When we came to this pub it was clearly busy and we enquired for the time needed for food to be served. We were given an estimate 20-25 mins but in fact we spent more than an hour waiting for our food that wasn't great at all. We were very disappointed to waste sunny hours in the pub instead of hiking. In all fairness we troubled and hurried the staff several times, and they were polite with us.

We were quoted 20-25 minutes for the food wait, but ended up waiting for 1 hour 10 minutes (and for our friends, it was 1 hour 20 minutes).Pasta was served lukewarm and undercooked (not al dente: undercooked), burgers bland and overdone, fries soggy and also overdone, with lots of bitter tasting oil.Pub in itself is OK.

We came for a family meal for Christmas and the food was stunning- the ice cream with the mulled wine sauce was absolutely to die for. We will definitely be back to see what goodies come on the menu next!

We were out walking and chose the Woodroffe for a spot of lunch. The landlady was very friendly, and our drinks were served perfectly. We had soup and sandwiches, (which arrived quickly and hot!) and we both said that the parsnip soup was the best soup we've ever tasted. We will be back next time we're in the area.

Excellent food? Caters excellently for food intolerances and tastes amazing. Staff were very attentive and the food was really professionally presented. Really warm friendly atmosphere all round. Would definitely revisit and bring relatives when visiting the area.

Although we arrived an hour after the start of the carvery it was cold. Service was not as friendly as the sign outside suggests.
