Over priced drinksThe quiz was good fun however the prizes are a bit ridiculous all ubget is a voucher ro spend at the bar and not all the money that is taken is given back as a prize! So sadly no longer goIs a little a country pub in a village but food is over rated and over priced too

Really enjoyable Sunday lunch.

I don't normally write reviews, however we have visited the Stanhope on various occasions for both food and drinks! I must say 'Will' always greets us with the most warmest smile and kindness. Nothing is ever too much and he always goes the extra mile. We've recently moved from Manchester and tried many local pubs, The Stanhope Arms exceeds all of our expectations! Keep up all the good work guys!

Probably one of the worst pub lunches we had. Some had the roast which was sparse and the meat looked like it had come from a packet. Lasagne was 90% cheese. Just awful. Don’t eat here!

It's a wonderful setting. It's a listed building thats quaint and quirky. A stunning pub.The beer and cider is always clean and fresh. However be prepared to get lighter if you go on the shelf they are a little above tariff in my opinion. The food is sometimes outstanding, and others times passes. The last time we were there the food was good overall. However both people in our party that ordered beef complained it was stone cold.We have made a few constructive criticism in the past when such things have occurred, as we have eaten here many times. This has never been welcomed, and we have always been made to feel very awkward as if we are at fault. Acquaintances of mine have voiced similarities in their experiences too.In particular my partner loves to go here for sunday roast, and always asks to go there, given the option. However on this occasion, to my surprise even she said this has put her off.The young lady who waited on us was lovely, however she didn't have a clue about the food at all. I asked a few elementary questions that completely baffled her. She disappeared for 10 minutes in the middle of the order only to answer a question I never asked when she returned.Nevertheless the menu is very good quality and value, and the specials are always interesting with plenty of variety. On the occasions I have ordered specials they have always been piping and freshly made.Clean kitchen and toilets is always a must and they always tick those boxes here in my experience.Theres always room for improvement, and with a little effort on the sunday roasts and the service this would be definitely be 10/10 5*.Booking advised at busy periods such as weekend lunchtimes.Well done, keep up the good work!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian sunday lunch available, as well as vegetarian options on the standard menu. Also vegetarian specials are normally available daily on the boards or ask the staff for availability.Perhaps call and ask before you book a table.

Visited here a few times but never eaten before. Called in and decided to to try the 2 for £18 lunchtime special! Scampi and fish were lovely but chips were disgusting, empty over greasy hard shell. Think we got the dregs from the bottom of the fryer.

The Sunday lunch was terrific! Great portions, the meat was fantastic, a great choice of sides to accompany the roast, extra gravy as standard. Simply wonderful. Dare I say the best roast I’ve had in a long time…? We shall certainly return.

Returned today for Sunday lunch with my family and sister, warm friendly atmosphere and staff welcoming. Selection of drinks is fantastic! The starters (scotch eggs especially) are amazing. The Sunday dinners are by far the best in the area, all home cooked fresh ingredients. Kids meals are of a high standard. Those looking for a non alcoholic beverage have a large selection to choose from. Can’t rate this place high enough and we will 100% be back again for another enjoyable family meal. Many thanks Stanhope arms

We kicked off my Mum's big birthday celebrations at The Stanhope Arms and we are very satisfied customers. Mum and I received fabulous support from Caroline and her amazingTeam from the outset, from booking, handling of massive play lists, table cloths, decorations and the wonderful evening entertainment ? We were really pleased with the buffet, great variety of very tasty food, no-one was disappointed. Fabulous venue, one very happy birthday girl. Many thanks and keep up the great work xx

Really nice village pub. Nice welcome, good beer selection and great menu. The lunch time special soup was delicious and steak Baguette sandwich fresh and highly recommended. Look forward to coming back

It is one of the better roasts in the area with nice outdoor seating areas. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is that the cauliflower and cheese was watery as opposed to thick and cheesey, but the rest was satisfactory. Doesn't compare to the roasts in Brighton & Hove as we're spoilt down here, but as I said for the area, I've been twice and will return.

Went two nights in a row as we were staying in our motorhome along the road. First night was curry night. Fab food and very reasonable. The steak on the second night was 2 for £30 plus a bottle of wine. Again...couldnt fault it. Lovely steak. Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed my first visit here , had a steak and stilton baguette with chips which was really nice. A traditional pub in a lovely village setting, will definitely return .Parking: Car park is a accross the road from the pub , slightly hidden which is probably why it was nearly empty , lol .
