Bar • “Was recommended this pub for their good home-cooked food. It didn't disappoint, Paul had butchers sausages, with cheese and onion creamed mashed potatoes and chefs special meat juices gravy. I had oven baked chicken breast in cheese and garlic sauce, with chips, peas and salad. Two well cooked meals and 2 decent pints. Highly recommend.Parking: Car park behind pub”

Bar • “A lovely characterful, compact 'Olde World' pub high above the town of Matlock with superb views from the front door and decking. Squeezed between residential properties, this place has an air of the secret about it, but it is far from that as it is a poular local haunt and is frequently busy. With a fab range of quality real ales served just at the right temperature this is a superb place to seek out.”
Bar • “Two of us had three tapas each plus an extra bread, aioli dip. What a delight. Such lovely, freshly prepared dishes, great selection, top notch service and lovely atmosphere. We were so full. Highly recommend and will certainly return. Thank you.”
Bar • “This is a fantastic pub. We were on holiday in the area and called in for a meal on a Thursday evening, quiz night. The service was warm, friendly and polite. The food was brilliant. I had the vegetarian 3 bean chilli followed by ginger sponge with custard. Both were really tasty. There was a good selection of hand pulled beers. I tried 2 different ones and both were excellent. The quiz was fun, with extras such as a meat raffle and a raffle to win a chance to answer one last question to win £150. This rolled over if it wasn't answered correctly. We didn't win, but had a great night. All the staff deserve credit for their warmth and their impressive level of service. The food, the beer, the atmosphere and the service were all top notch!”

Bar • “Love this pub !! The landlord & landlady are so friendly, as are the staff , we were made to feel very welcome. Called today for a Sunday lunch & we weren’t disappointed . Fabulous roast beef from the local butcher with all the sides you can imagine & very plentiful . We regularly drink here but this was the first time we have eaten & we will definitely be back , would highly recommend.”

“What can I say? There is only one Stones.From the moment you walk through the door you are treated like royalty.The food is excellent as is the service. The portion sizes are just right. Not overwhelming but not leaving you hungry unlike some other upmarket restaurants. We both had blade of beef. Not only was the beef delightful it was a generous portion.Stones is not cheap in comparison with other restaurants but considering what you get for your money it is good value.”
