We came for mothers day afternoon tea and absolutely loved it, cute little pub nicely decorated and the food was incredible. The service was a little slow but the whole atmosphere made up for that!

we went to the black lion last night for a meal, I think 16 of us in total.we all ate including kids and not 1 of us had a bad thing to say about the food or experience.all the meals were brought out hot and fresh, and as close together as possible.as a pest controller I can be picky where I eat. this place isn't one of them. and being on my door step (walkable) from home me and the family are going to be spending more time here.already recommended to my WhatsApp chat of friends who meet up monthly to go and eat.side note - I had a breakfast here not so long ago and it was spot on.cheers guys. see you soon

Friendly, welcoming staff, service very good ( thank you Henry), good choice of ales ?. We had the Sunday carvery, good portions, good quality, very tasty. Home-made apple crumble also very good. Will certainly be back.Parking: Small carpark 10-12 cars, otherwise on street, but lane is narrow, so come early or walk.

Lovely friendly atmosphere on a busy late December evening. Bar person was helpful and knowledgeable helping us choose 2 from a selection of Lilley’s cider which were very nice. We enjoyed our snacks, especially the cheese and tomato flatbread. Generous servings.

Just been for Sunday lunch, was absolutely perfect. Everything was fresh & home made & lovely gravy. Most Sundays as a family we try different places & this is one of the best. Thank you.

What a disappointment. Booked a table for four of us today only to find the pub closed. We were on the carpark along with a group of ladies who had booked for a birthday party. The lodger told us the landlady had phoned us all to canx. Shame none of us got the message. Beware if you book you may be disappointedWe went up the road to the Greyhound which was really good and reasonably priced..So not a complete waste of our time?️
