Great 13th Century Inn .Beams and open fires .Beer , whisky and Skittles .Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are for sleeping in .The bed was comfortable and the shower as hot as. The linen and towels were fine and the heating was more than adequate. ( though it did make a clunking sound and the radiator on light could probably be seen by the ISS.)The food was A1.Nearby activities: Lyme Regis is 20 mins away. The land of Ichthyosaurs and Ammonites. There are a lot of good quality shops , and fossil shops . Also you can find excellent cream teas and a walk down to the cob to stare wistfully out to sea , doing your best impersonation of the “ French Lieutenants Woman “Walkability: Lots of footpaths around the lovely Devon countryFood & drinks: Nice selection of starters ( sweet cauliflower and the bread and oil Very good )For mains they had the usual Fish and chips , Mussels , Venison , Pork loin ( lots of crackling ) Nice Curry with Popadoms and Naan .Deserts … lots of sorbets ( sorry didn’t notice the others .The food is pretty much cooked to Order , so there is a wait …. But it is well worth the wait .It isn’t cheap , but it is worth it .Breakfast full English with a twist of local produce. Also Haddock & kipper, vegan one to.

3 of us had lunch , my wife and I chose the ' winter warmer' which was roast pork and all the trimmings ( fantastic!) Followed by a very tasty apple crumble. Mum in law had a very good Ham ,egg and chips. The pub was warm and the service very friendly. Would highly recommend.

A number of let downs with the food was very disappointing. Sprout fritters starter - not great Halumi and avocado starter - great Fish pie main - great Pork bellly main - not great, soggy crackling (surely a key element of pork belly is crispy crackling?) and served on a heap of partially cooked onions which I had to leave they were so unappetising. Custard tart pudding - frankly awful.

Disappointing stay. Rooms and bathrooms were very cold, not very comfortable and you can literally hear everything from the other rooms and bathrooms..... which is neither pleasant nor restful. Pub downstairs is nice, service dependent on who serves you with or without a smile ? Breakfast good but many options not available. Not good value for what we paid
