Dalwood, AxminsterWent for Easter Sunday roast. Small country roads to get to venue but well worth it. Really lovely setting. Good size portion with all the trimmings, left feeling very full! Staff were amazing and accommodated young children with no issues. Highly recommend and will definitely go back if in area again.

The Kingfisher Public House
Dolphin St, ColytonLovely traditional pub. We moved to Colyford six months ago and often enjoy a stroll into Colyton for a visit to the Kingfisher. There’s always a warm welcome from both the staff and the regulars. The beer selection is great, and we’ve had some really good pub grub as well. A proper locals’ pub with a genuinely friendly atmosphere.

Probably the best tasting fish and chips in the country. The two behind the counter are fine examples of the best of humanity too. Proper decent blokes running a business like a well oiled machine.

White Hart Inn
Swan Hill Rd, Colyford, ColytonEdit: 2026 New licensees doing an excellent job of keeping a local country pub open, and of generating new footfall from walkers, tram riders, and passing motorists. Great food, fantastic beer selection, lovely ice-cream parlour, warm open fire, £7 (!) pot casserole. Great owners, lovely staff, charcterful patrons and excellent atmosphere! Always something going on ❤️
Edit: 2023. I gave 4 stars four years ago and have recently moved back to the area. I'm basing the new 5 stars on the people who staff the pub (all friendly, happy and polite), the selection of beer (although not on tap the Old Peculiar was fantastic!) and also the food. I recently took my boy there where he had fish and chips, and said it was great but I, on the other hand, decided on liver and bacon and felt it was the best I'd eaten! It was tender, flavoursome and generous and I even dreamt about it that night ?. Keep up the great work guys! A proper pub, with friendly dogs who add to the family atmosphere. Lovely!
