Had a delicious lunch here with my sister and brother in law at the weekend.Having read the reviews, I booked a table. All the staff were friendly. There is a good range of drinks and the food was excellent. We started with chicken strips and calamari, both piping hot and melt in the mouth. For mains, we had lasagne, fish pie, and pie of the day. All delicious, hot, and good-sized portions. Very reasonably priced, too.

We had a lovely lunch. My wife had the tuna baguette and I had bacon and cheddar baguette. Both came with chips which were lovely and crunchy. Generous portions but couldn't eat it all because we were both full. Nice atmosphere and not too expensive and would definitely go back again.

Sehr gutes Essen. Überschaubare Auswahl aber ich denke das hier jeder auf seine Kosten kommt.Freundliche Bedienung. Hatte ne tolle Zeit.Nur die Raumgestaltung ist ein bisschen zu voll. Aber das ist Geschmacksache.

The best roast dinner I have ever had , crispy spuds , tasty stuffing along with a generous portion of perfectly cooked moist turkey breast roll. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon.

We weren't given chance to order or eat. Even though only 3 tables had reserved signs on them we were told that we'd have to sit in a corner by an open door and that it would take a long time to get food as all of the other tables were booked and we'd have to wait as they'd take priority. Hardly a warm welcome!

With so many chains ripping old pubs apart to make them ‘trendy’, it’s a delight to find one that has the owners mark on it. It’s been done with dedication and pride and the service and food totally go along with that feeling. Even though it was a quiet lunch time when we went, it had really atmosphere and you could ‘feel’ how it would be when busy. Don’t let it change, we aren’t local but will definitely return when in the area.

walked in for lunch midweek with my dog. the place has a large amount of decorative items as you can see from all the pictures. the staff was pleasant and attentive. the dinning room was large with high ceilings and again lots of interesting decorative items. the front bar was comfy for luch and great to look out the big windows at the square. The food was great - home made steak and stilton with skin on chips - and I was very satisfied. I took my second pint outside in front of the pub where the sun was baking and people we going about thier business of the weekday afternoon. The parking is not great if you're by car since there seems to be a 45 minute maximum on the street during the day and some restrictions may apply at night. Maybe there was a better place nearby I missed.All-in-all, high ratings earned the old fashioned way with good freindly service and excellent food at decent prices.Thank you.

If I ran the country all pubs in England would be decorated this way. Clearly the interior designer was on drugs.I visited during a heatwave where tables are on a square suitable for a game of petanque. Refusing to drink from a mandated plastic beaker, I sat by the window with a cool breeze and spent and age going through the menu and the specials menu, while drinking a cool Atlantic Pale Ale.Food was amazing (I went for the butternut squash and lentil dhal). All we need to know now is: whatever did the tiger, cow, and sea urchins ever do to you?Beyond recommendable.

A recommendation from a friend. The food, or I should say, what we ordered, was just ok. I noted that almost everyone else in the restaurant that night ordered a steak (serves more than one) which is sizzled and sliced at the table. It looked excellent.
