Really nice friendly place run by the community. Pleasant view looking out to see. No food to be seen when we were there, but what ever was cooking smelt good. Wish we had time to sit in the beer garden a bit longer.

Best Pub Sunday Lunch in South Devon? We have dined here or a regular basis and always enjoyed the welcome, the food and the beers. After their winter break, we returned for their new menu Sunday Lunch at just £18.50/head, it was both generous and fabulous. I opted for the trio of beef, ham and turkey. All the meats are from local suppliers, the beef was tender, the ham was tasty, and the turkey was succulent. The vegetables (White cabbage, roast carrots, red cabbage, leeks in sauce and cauliflower cheese) were all cooked to perfection whilst the roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Extra gravy was automatically served in a jug.The sea views are fab, and the new manager is most welcoming.

A really charming pub. Very friendly, fabulous food and great views. Can't recommend this place enough.Vegetarian options: We had the option of a vegetarian wellington or a nut roast (it was a Sunday). Between us we had both and both were delicious. Lots of it too!

Went to the pub quiz last night in the newly decorated, revamped pub. Great fun, great food, great company - we had an absolute blast. There is a completely new menu, which proved really difficult to chose from as everything sounded delicious. I had the moule mariniere which was fanatstic. Highly recommend this place as completely transformed since the last time I went

I would like to congratulate the Kings Arms on its recent fabulous makeover. This character filled pub, now has a 'loved' nautical feel. Fantastic murals, my favourite being the mermaid on the wall behind the bar. Well done to everyone involved – pop in and support this cracking pub and lovely staff!...

While on holiday nearby, we called in on the off chance they may have a table for us for dinner that evening and found it was their reopening night; they did have a table; and there was a quiz! We returned at the appointed time and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We discovered that this is a community run pub who had been closed for a refurb and were reopening with volunteers running the place. The decor was great and the choice of food excellent. The portions were generous and so well cooked. My mussels were cooked to perfection with delicious crusty bread to soak up the white wine they had been cooked in. Then the quiz started! We always come last in pub quizzes as we don't know about sport or photos of celebrities but this quiz was so different with very varied questions - some multiple choice but all that anyone could have a guess at. After each question, the scoreboard was revealed and there was great friendly rivalry between the teams. We actually came second much to our surprise! This community pub is so welcoming we would be there every night if we lived locally and I would certainly be volunteering to do a stint behind the bar. Good luck to you all - you deserve to do well and thank you for such a wonderfully entertaining evening with excellent food. Rice 'n Pudding!

A glorious sunny winter’s day demanded a lunch by the sea (a day for apricity- look it up!). Decided on a visit down to the King’s Arrms after a gap since before it had become a community pub. Been coming irregularly for over twenty years & loved the building & the position. Glorious drive to it along the coast road (both ways) too. A friendly welcome & a pint of well kept Jail Ale before having a good look at an unexpectedly comprehensive menu with a couple of specials on the board. Turned out to be a new menu just launched a few days before & there were plenty of familiar favourites but some interesting additions as well. The three of us settled on a Mediterranean sharing platter as starter (billed as for two but was easily enough to satisfy all of us). One of the best Olive mixes I’ve seen in years with sun dried tomatoes, cornichons & pickled garlic., hummus, tzatziki, grilled peppers, halloumi sticks & pitta to dip - would happily have it as a satisfying lunch for two. The special of grilled sea bass won us all over & was perfectly cooked, served with baby potatoes & salsa verde. Couldn’t resist the dessert menu either. The wine menu was a total surprise too. When was the last time you saw a good selection of reds & whites priced at £20 bottle? Amazing! Service was friendly & attentive & the views up the coast just stunning. So good to see an old favourite back in top form again. Definitely back as a stop on the way to Slapton.
