Lovely hotel, room walked in on me without knocking when I was naked. Then just stood there staring at me, only for her friend to walk in and do the same 2 minutes later.I was very angry I went and complained, went out for food when I returned, the duty manager left a bottle of Prosecco, a sorry note and some chocolates in my room. We are just back from an overnight stay at the Mercure Southgate Hotel, ultimately it was a great break but sadly ended on a very sour note.We were visiting Exeter for the Christmas market and took advantage of being able to leave our luggage in the storage area before being able to check in a few hours later.The location of the hotel is ideal, not only for Exeter City centre but also the waterfront area which were both only a short walk away from the hotel.The actual décor of...read full review

Beautiful interiors & decor. One of the nicest Mercure's I've seen as of yet. Didn't stay at the hotel, as I only had a pass to use the health/spa facilities.Used the swimming pool and sauna. No steam room but there is decent-sized jacuzzi and gym also. Good experience overall.
