In need of a self service checkout. Queues are too long and I'm often waiting whilst the customer in front slowly packs their shopping.Staff are friendly, but it does seem short staffed and often closes early (with little notice) because of this.Edit: reduced to 3 stars as I have found prices marked incorrectly, and out of date items on the shelves.

Absolutely ridiculous they hardly ever have any of the stock on the shelves and there is not enough staff in the shop, they are always running out of the most essential things and they call that a local shop more like a joke of a shop!!! Worst co-op shop I’ve ever been in!!!

The place is run by morons. Particularly the older members of staff are the most stuck up, two faced, miserable people who hate their jobs and make their problems everyone else’s. One woman in particular, slightly older with blonde/grey hair, who’s attitude towards some customers and especially other staff is appalling and extremely obnoxious and ignorant. Another members of staff in particular (the manager), who is also rude, arrogant and doesn’t seem to take the slightest bit of consideration towards her employees, and is very selfish. In the back of the store room, is mounts of out of date food, left to rot and deliveries of fresh food, which has to be kept at a certain temperature, is just left outside in a cage, getting warm and not suitable to sell, and still is sold to customers.
I would highly advise that any young people, looking for a part time job not to go there. It is in all honesty the most surreal, miserable place to work, and employees get thought of as stupid and not worthy of doing a job by the managers, when the older members of staff are the main problem, simply because they have worked there for so many centuries, and are quite frankly just stubborn and negative towards everyone and everything.
On a more positive note, some of the younger members of staff, incredibly helpful, and are delightful to be served by, you can tell they are only their for a part time job whilst they are at university etc, and are staying strong and sticking it out whilst in the back of their mind they hate working there.

Modbury is very fortunate to have The CO-OP it’s so well stocked with both Fresh Food - Chilled & Frozen often at very Competitive prices bearing in mind it’s convenience, The Staff I have to say are so friendly-Helpful- quick to respond to any queries, I do have to pick out one or two extra special ones Shirley and Tamiko - Tracey- Nicky and a lot of the male staff as well, Thank you all for going the extra mile Michael Astill

Excellent little shop, have everything you could need. Although, If you're visiting Modbury for the first time, you need to be aware of the plastic bag ban! (We weren't familiar until it was too late..)
The best plastic bag free Coop in the world! !!!! Staff really friendly and welcoming . Store nice and clean with a great range of stock.

This place usually is really great but there is one woman who works there who has terrible personal hygiene . She is a larger woman with greasy hair, dirty uniform and a strong body odour. She is not a good representation of the company. She serves you with such an attitude if you ask for items behind the counter that she has to move to get to. Very dissapointing!! Rest of staff are very helpful and friendly tho. Just that one person letting them down.
