From the moment arriving at the Plantation House hotel, it was clear that Richard and his team’s attention to detail was first class - the greeting with tea and cake, personal service to access the rooms, bar service, a private dinner for 12, as we’d booked most of the hotel for a wedding nearby, the breakfast etc etc, all attended to personally by Richard and his amazing team. The best way to end this review is that Richard and his team, more than exceeded the website description of his wonderful hotel - you will not be disappointed if you visit and we will definitely be back. One of the best little UK hotels we have stayed in. Since C-19 the service in the UK has slipped, but this little place exceeding our expectations. The staff are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble!Rooms: Very clean, welcoming and complimentary fruit bowl. Even hoovered every day which is rare nowadays!Food & drinks: Excellent food and service in the restaurant and value for money.Noteworthy details: The staff here are fantastic. Me and my partner stayed for a wedding on 30th June for 2 nights. Each individual goes the ‘extra mile’ and made us feel extremely welcoming. We have stayed in many boutique hotels which are fancy and this one really does give those a run for their money at such value for money!! Nothing was too much trouble and the food at breakfast and dinner was delicious. We hope to be back soon. Laura :)

Thank you to Richard and his amazing team for making our 3 night stay so wonderful and memorable. Room 22 was so relaxing with amazing views over the valley. Your team make the place feel like home with nothing too much bother for them. Oh and the food… just outstanding… I have been told I have to mention the porridge .!! Joking aside every dish, whether breakfast or dinner, was a culinary delight. Once again thank you to everyone, even Moet, the latest addition to the “family” who made us chuckle on her evening wander around the gardens.!! We will talk about our stay for years to come and certainly hope to return one day.

As good as Raymond Blanc’s Manoir au Quatre seasons . Having been lucky enough to stay at the Manoir a few times. I never thought I find anything as comfortable in a country house Hotel. And such good value too! The room was perfect. Especially I liked the good quality ground coffee available in the morning on the courtesy tray. The staff were impeccable and extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and extremely good quality. There was nothing I could fault about the hotel. I would very much like to visit again. Special, thanks to Richard and Bridgette

Lovely 8 roomed hotel, rooms comfortable and well equipped, only slight issue is the smallish bathroom. Three dinners eaten there with interesting dishes for all three courses, well cooked and attractive on the plate. Best of all was wonderful service by all we met, clearly taking pride (justifiably so) in their hotel and serving well.
We stayed for four nights in June 2023 and found Plantation House a relaxing treat. Our room (Mint Julep) was large, very comfortable and clean, with lovely furniture and a great bed. The shower was hot and gushing, just what you want, and the bath deep. Richard and his team were warm, friendly and welcoming, and the food was incredible. We ate in the restaurant every night! They have a lovely garden seating area, separate breakfast room, restaurant, and extensive bar with lounge area. The wine list is very good! All in all a fantastic base for exploring Devon’s South Hams.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for 2 nights. It was faultless; from the warm welcome when we first arrived, to the stunning room and the truly incredible, inspired menu using local ingredients which is different each night. Nothing was too much trouble.If you are looking for the perfectly appointed hotel for that quiet and relaxing getaway, nestled in the stunning scenery of the South Hams, then your search is over: This is the place.
