Very comfortable stay. Staff fantastic.Roads a nightmare roadworks, walkers at night. Pot holes etc. To get there.

Very misleading as we booked a nice room in the pub and we got a cabin in the car park. Tiny room, same price as in the pub. With a broken bed and side lamp bulb gone. They clearly pay no attention to the maintenance of the rooms. Complained and we were moved into the pub. Lovely room in the pub (apart from the cable ties holding the shower together), but the music in the bar was ridiculously loud until 9pm. I complained, as did a neighbour across the road, it was that loud. Such a shame as this pub is nice and breakfast was great. But it seems like the current owners are not getting the most out of it. The one shining light was the girl working while we were there. She was very professional throughout. We won’t be returning and we wouldn’t recommend.

Disappointed: Menu on arrival differed vastly from Web menu, poor selection of dishes. Food we ordered was acceptable but not outstanding, service was good but overall not good value for money. Would not return.

Sheltered here from dreadful sleety rain while waiting to view a rental property. Log fire, comfortable room with friendly staff and good beer. Should this become my local, I would count myself lucky.

No hot water for 3 days despite reporting the problem. Water would go freezing cold very quickly. They refunded our meal as compensation but the problem was never resolved. Nice breakfast and friendly bar staff, but disappointing that they didn’t inform guests that they had problems with their boiler!

First of all - we're probably not the only ones to be misled after searching for hotels in Ivybridge: the Anchor is in Ugborough, not Ivybridge! But it's a friendly and comfortable pub with nice rooms above. Clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were good.

Our room was warm and comfortable. Up some stairs to the bath room so might be something to consider. It was reasonably clean though found som cobwebs in the corner. Finish was rustic in which I mean badly, I'll fitting home made cover for electrics badly painted. Don't know what electrics as dare not touch. But that sort of sets the standard. There was no polish or style to the room. It was like it was 'tartted' up with that'll do mentality. Although the pebble floor in the bathroom with under floor heating was nice.Food was ok although we'd eaten there before and decided to eat out this time. Breakfast was good but the restaurant area in which one eats was cold and felt a bit bleak. Staff were lovely helpful and pleasant. Overall it is a standard place to stay, nothing makes it 'stand out'.

Really nice pub that was quiet when we arrived at 5.00pm. The barmaid said that the restaurant was opening at 6 pm, so we decided to stay and have a couple of drinks. The barmaid told us there was limited beer on tap as she was waiting for a local customer to turn up to help her lift some barrels in the cellar. My husband and one of the customer that was there decided to help. We then ordered some lovely pale ale which was poured well and tasted nice. Thought we may have got half a pint for free being as my hubby helped lift the very heavy barrels.. never mind haha. Dinner was lovely, just slightly undercooked calamari. My burger was really tasty, but slightly on the smaller side than what I’m used to another restaurant. However, everything was served promptly, and tasted really good. We were the only people in the restaurant at 6 pm, but it was starting to fill up in the bar. The customers were really nice and friendly dogs present as well and atmosphere and warm and inviting. We will be back! ?

I stayed for two nights with my Border Collies in order to attend competitions nearby. This Inn proved a wonderful find. The village is absolutely beautiful and definitely one to walk around. Getting to Dartmoor and other attractions is easy too. The Inn itself is charming, the welcome friendly, and the bedrooms clean and comfortable. I was there for dinner on both nights. Food is prepared on site. I had the fish and chips both nights to enjoy a generous portion of fresh fish in a crisp and non-greasy batter. Puddings are excellent too. The menu is not too extensive and the kitchen does what it does very well indeed. Service is with a smile. Very good value for money. I will be back again the Spring. Highly recommended

Good stop off if visiting Dartmoor. Nicely decorated and room was spacious. Can bring dogs.Sleep quality ok, we were in a room by the gravel car park so with window open (as it was hot) you can get disturbed by car noise plus privacy not great.Menu was ok but not a massive choice. If you have a dog with you, you need to eat in bar area (although breakfast you can take dog in to dining room ?‍♀️) Seating was a little uncomfortable here, as it’s window benches which aren’t ideal when eating a meal.Breakfast very good and served by really friendly guy.If bringing a dog there is a good walk 5 minutes away, but no grass area near pub or outside room for dog to be let out in the night if needed!Only thing to point out is CHECK YOUR BILL before leaving!! Annoyingly we trusted that we had been charged for what we had ordered - we could see the bar lady tap in to the computer when we ordered drinks, but the bill showed a different drinks order. We had 1 wine and 2 beers but it was only after we had left and looked at bill and we had been charged for 3 beers and 2 wines!!?

We got married in early June 2023 and held our wedding reception at the Anchor. We know the pub very well and live locally. However, that does not influence this review as Tom the landlord and his team were amazing leading up to the wedding with the planning of the reception, budgeting and allowing us free reign to dress the restaurant as we wanted. We booked out all 10 rooms at the Anchor and all family and friends that stayed were very happy and looked after with a great breakfast each morning. We had the most amazing wedding day and the reception went onto late in the night. The staff worked tirelessly and always had a smile when serving. The rooms were super clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend this pub in an amazing village.Rooms: Very clean and comfy, good size.Food & drinks: Great food and good range of beverages with a top notch staff supplying everything you need

Went in here for a family meal - I had the chicken burger which was particularly good - so good I’ve come on tripadvisor because I was thinking about it again today, a good 10 days later. Veggie/vegan options were perhaps not quite as polished according to those of that persuasion in the party. Friendly staff in the bar and seated areas. Would go again if in the area.
