We were out for a dog walk at Parke Bovey Tracey. Could not park up for lunch at a pub in Bovey. Googled dog friendly pubs and the Sloop came up. We turned up unannounced with no table booked. The host greeted us and found us a table for 2 in the doggy section. I bought myself a pint of Lager and Pint of soda water for my wife. Soda water was free. Friendly service at the bar. Ordered 2 Roast Turkeys on their Special deal. We were served our food really fast. We didn't know about the cutlery station so the guy who bought us the food went and got us cutlery. The Roasts were very generous and tasty. The atmosphere was friendly and buzzing. Very impressed and we will go there again. Thank you Sloop Inn smile ☺

Went for a meal with family on a Tuesday lunchtime. We all agreed that the food was delicious.I had the 15 oz gammon and the portion size was enormous, 3 largish pieces of gammon perfectly cooked with egg, pineapple, onion rings and lovely chips. I couldn't finish it all and brought one portion of gammon home. My cousin had the half roast chicken with jacket potato and salad and requested a doggy bag to take half the chicken home. The mixed grill was also huge. My husband's steak and chips was also well cooked. Two of them had apple and berry crumble with custard, my cousin had millionaire shortcake, again all delicious,.The prices were very reasonable too, much cheaper than back home.The price for the 4 main meals, a bottle of wine, half of bitter and Carling came to £54.93, this did include 15% discount as AA members. Would definitely return to this pub for food. The barman was very friendly too. All in all a good experience.

I've reviewed the sloop before but thought it was worth doing so again. My partner and I do eat there occasionally as he gets blue light discount on the food and we arrange our visits in 'wine Wednesday' when they offer a bottle of house wine for an amazing £7.99. We decided to go in today to take advantage of their January special £5 meals. We ordered the fish and chips and were wondering what the portion would be like for the price Wow, we were not disappointed. Unlike some places they didn't cut back because of the price and, with the blue light discount off the already incredible price it was an absolute bargain. And washed down with a bottle of sauvignon blanc it made for a most enjoyable experience.
Called in on the way to the SBR convention. Nice place, clean, tidy, what you'd expect.Southern prices but it's what you expect in this sort of area. Nice pint of San Miguel so can't complain.Knowledgeable staff, friendly and good food.

I love coming to the sloop. The food is great value. Most recently, we did the BOGOF burgers which is amazingly priced. Great service at the bar, they repeated their order back to me which is always a freak reminder I don't forget anyone. The atmosphere is lively at the Sloop - you hear it her families, but it's never a bother as they can hear mine. Great choice, selection and service.Parking: Never have an issue with parking.Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly, even has a kid corner, remember your pound coins!
