Lovely cafe to get breakfast. Plenty of options for vegan and gluten free, and the breakfast isn’t greasy. It’s not too expensive either. Very happy with our visit!Dietary restrictions: Good options for vegan and gluten free

We were stuck for a good place to eat, having looked on Trip Advisor under restaurants nothing was really inviting ….. we like food that is good quality home cooked food, with a slightly alternative flair (not just traditional meat and two veg) and we don’t like chains. Then whilst walking back to the car park, we happened across The Country Cafe, from the outside it didn’t grab me but I saw a board advertising Homity Pie ? so I decided to look at it further ….. then I saw Iced Peach ? Tea ….. so I decided to go in ….. I’m so glad we did ……. The food was amazing - they had food on the counter just as a visual so you could see what your food would look like if you ordered it. They had a delicious omelette with a tasty filling and too many other mains to list ….. great vegetarian ? and gluten free options, if needed. Great selection of teas and drinks and their homemade cakes ? were unbelievable!!!! Dense and moist and others were light and fluffy ….. the tray bakes were great in selection too ….. I had the Homity Pie, Iced Tea and Banana Cake that had perfect frosting ! The staff were super friendly and quick to serve ….. the place had a warm vibe and reminded me of the Deep South with good southern American ?? diner feel to it. Wooden beams and homely decor with lovely art ?️ on the wall available to buy and Burts food products on sale too. When we next return to Newton Abbot this will be the only place we return to and eat and will be recommending to all ….. thank you ??

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Great for Gluten Free. We had a great breakfast with friends. Nothing to much trouble.

Usually a very good place for a breakfast, but below par on our last visit. The tea was very weak, the egg was overdone, the bacon was quite salty and the sausage was slightly undercooked in the middle. Despite this, we will return, in the hope that this was a blip on a normally good meal.
