Nine family members have had a wonderful Sunday Lunch with a wide variety of delicious food served with friendly efficiency by Storm. Thank you Rose and Crown staff. Everything we hoped for.

Stayed here for a night B&B, lovely friendly pub with a great atmosphere. My room was very spacious and well appointed with nespresso, a roll top bath and shower. Breakfast was exceptional, highly recommend.

Traditional food which was a good standard for a pub. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and the vibe was warm and friendly. Already thinking of planning another trip to Devon as it was such a nice stay!

Unfortunately we had a problem with one of the 4 plates of food here. the other 3 were very good but not outstanding ( fine for the price though ) .

The one problem dish was the crab linguine that me wife ordered. When ordering the waitress asked the cooking staff if there was any left, and this was confirmed. When my wife got it and ate some of it the waitress came back over and asked how it was and my wife said it was very light on the crab taste. This surprised me as she never ever complains. The waitress said it was in the sauce. Talking to me wife later she said there was no taste of crab, just butter. She should have rejected the dish.

Considering that crab has a strong taste either they had run out and just served it without, considering the conversation earlier, or it had been forgotten. Anyhow £18+ for paste and butter was not good.

As mentioned the other dishes were fine. They may wish to give more bread out with the crab starter as there was too much for the 3 pieces of bread. Minor issue though compared to the other problem.

Sunday evening. Nice ambiance and good wines. Alas the food was pretty poor. I realised that we might be in trouble when the waitress advised that they had had a busy Sunday lunchtime and that only a few of the roasts were left and left-overs appeared to be what we got. The lamb was overcooked and leathery, the roast pots hard and grey inside and the red cabbage accompanying the burger was stale and dried out The overcooked veg tart was no better giving every appearance of having stood for some time. I also have never before been refused to substitute chips for a green salad. If a restaurant advertises as being open in the evening then it is in my view incumbent on them to reset the menu from lunch time rather than serving up the lunchtime dregs.

Great food last night and came back this morning for breakfast. Was served by a lovely lady called lily and nothing was too much trouble.

1st visit, very impressed from the food to the service and staff.

Have stayed here many times, but this time I have notices the downgrade, the breakfast was not as good, the floor area hadn't been cleaned from the night before, the personnel wouldn't replenish of breakfast items, consequently the later arrivals had a greatly depleted breakfast. And allowing the delivery of goods between breakfast hours and interfering the peaceful breakfast hour...

Warm welcome, great food – and don’t miss the beer! ?

We spent one night here during our road trip through England and Wales – and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stops.

Our room was beautifully decorated, cosy and full of thoughtful touches. We arrived just a few minutes before the kitchen closed, but the team still made sure we had a proper dinner – and it was so good. Fresh, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Breakfast the next morning was just as lovely – and the staff had a kind word and a smile for everyone.

Also: try the beer! The stout was incredibly creamy and full of flavour – absolutely recommend giving it a go if you're into good local brews.

There was really nothing missing. Warm hospitality, great food, lovely atmosphere – we’d come back anytime. Ideally for more than just one night, to fully enjoy everything this place has to offer.

Stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Very comfortable room was given to us. The skylight window in the bathroom gives extra light to a good sized room. We only had breakfast but it was delicious and our waitress was very friendly.

Pleasant short stay in well appointed accommodation. Good choice of drinks, food good quality and well cooked if a little pricey.
