It was going through a revamp so I wasn't able to see it in its full glory and taste any food but the pub is much to my liking. I am going to be visiting again as my best friend lives in the village and we may watch a few sport matches which it has on show with the large screens. Super friendly pub at the heart of the village! Gorgeous outside seating areas, plenty of cute little hideaways and such a welcoming atmosphere. 10/10 service and food. Really couldn't recommend highly enough. Family and pet friendly.
I will admit to a little bias as this is my local but the Volunteer Inn is as good as it's possible to be in the current environment. Good, well kept ales, very good Guinness and a selection of ciders but it is the food that deserves special mention. The pub built up a good reputation during lock down through its takeaway menu and this has been enhanced since reopening.
