After a long journey, we knew we would be too tired to cook so booked a table here for our first night. The fish and chips, and market fish were both excellent - very well cooked and exceeding our expectations. The waiter (Tom according to the receipt) was very keen and friendly, ensuring we had an enjoyable evening

Max Tannett was the most charming, enthusiastic, and best server we have ever had. He served our food excellently, and always made sure we where satisfied. He was extremely friendly with the dogs. He was great when asking for a tip, because he was so consistent with asking for one. Definitely deserves a raise. 10/10 service.

Seems like Salcombe, like many seaside towns, has issues getting staff. Everyone was nice but we had to ask for menus, then cutlery, one server didn’t know where the bathroom was. Food didn’t seem fresh - all defrosted or out of packet. Nice space and nice staff just needs to get food up to par.

Looked like a really nice pub which the sign said muddy boots and dogs welcome. We went in with our small dog lots of tables vacant, only to be told they where fully booked up. Let's say the young lad obviously took a dislike to us.

came here on a day trip to salcombe on a whim and stumbling upon this place was the best thing ever on our trip. i had been craving fish and chips for our whole trip down south but it was only on day 5 of the trip i finally got my hands on one. it might have been the hunger or the excitement but i can safely say that i had the BEST fish and chips ever, definitely worth the wait! The batter was so crisp and light and the fish was so flaky and soft - perfection! Chips as you’d love them, crunchy bite on the surface and fluffy goodness inside. Even the peas are worth the mention; they honestly tasted like they were freshly grown in my mouth! such a refreshing flavour to accompany the fish! would highly recommend if near the area or even make the trip down there for this dish !!\\n\\np.s. the staff were so lovely to accommodate us as we didn’t realise they closed for food between lunch and dinner but they were still happy to sit us as they were very welcoming! value for money was also brilliant! highly recommend!

Right in the centre of Salcome, there is a short stay car park across the road where you can off load bags. The room was clean and tidy and they provided fresh towels on demand + anything else needed, like water, tea bags, milk etc. We did feel that it was expensive for what you got, but I suppose that is Salcome for you, we paid over £100 per night for room only, which does seem a lot when you consider we had paid under £70 for bed and breakfast in Plymouth. The pub did close early several nights, as they were not too busy and appeared to be short staff, as a lot of places in Salcome seemed short staffed. Definitely best to book tables for food in all the pubs we ate at and beware of eating outside due to the seagulls!

Had their hand pressed burger, which was uncooked in the middle, so was sent back, a replacement followed, which was a bit overcooked and pretty tasteless and at best mediocre. My wife had the sirloin steak, she wanted it medium rare but it came medium and was quite expensive at £26!\\n\\nAlso, their website menu bore no resemblance of the actual menu given to us.\\n\\nNo the sort of experience I expected after reading lots of good reviews!

Great service and really enjoyed our lunch

Good food, very busy but that didn't affect the general service or quality. Only lost a star because the drinks orders were confused and the outside needed some heating which if it was there wasn't obvious, and an area that became very popular with the 'energetic' young locals.

I don't know about the food but as a hotel The Victoria Inn charges too much for too little. I paid more that 100 pounds for just a room, no breakfast. The room I was given appeared to be a converted pigeon loft. That would have been ok except that it didn't have enough windows and light for me. There was also damage at the bottom of the bathroom door. The after hours access to the room is via a dirty and litter strewn side passage. It's across the road but there are no views of the sea. The staff were friendly and helpful - I appreciated being given a jug of fresh milk to make tea. But I still felt I had been overcharged. I left a note to that effect but noone bothered to respond. The free WIFI didn't work. I wouldn't stay here again.

Absolutely loved it here. Log fire was on, not to busy, plenty of space not crammed in. The young chap who served us was knowledgeable about his beers was friendly and helpful, the drinks he recommended were great. But the food was amazing. Best mussels I've had in a long long time ?.

Very comfortable, well presented clean rooms - great places for breakfast close by and tasty pub food especially the chef's homemade soup! The staff were all very friendly, efficient and helpful would thoroughly recommend it especially out of season as peaceful and quiet in the mornings!

Dog friendly and excellent menu. We had the fish sharer, and were so impressed when it arrived, we didn't stop to take a photo just got stuck in! The staff were brilliant and I can't praise them or the pub highly enough.
