Good food. Hectic service due to small busy space. Good drink. Parking very busy. Dogs allowed in dining areas whether you like that or not.

Great country pubs. Food was good but our nibbles were forgotten and were served just before the mains.

Fantastic pub atmosphere with a warm and cozy feel, lovely food, well priced for the excellent quality. After several visits I have noticed a forever changing menue with lots of choice and flavours, from classic choices to those fancy pants options with lovely decorations and a very fully belly after.

This is one of the favorite place in Devon for our couple? we can stay here every day : amazing tasty food and cozy atmosphere. Very beautiful old pub , two fireplaces, and the stuff is so friendly here?Try The Sunday roast here- you will really enjoy it???

Came here for the Sunday roast! We were a group of 6 and were seated at the dining room, which featured large windows overlooking the outdoor area. Really lovely seating area. They also have seating in the main pub area, where although more dimly lit, is quite charming and quaint, and there was even a wood fire burning.Things we tried:Pork scratchings w/ apple sauce (7/10): some bits were a bit hard, but still really good and crunch.Sunday roast (8/10): beef roast was certainly on point, perfectly cooked. It was a bit lukewarm when it arrived. The sides of broccoli, roasted parsnips and beets, carrot puree, and cauliflower cheese were also wonderful. However, I wish the potatoes were a bit more crisp!Chili chocolate cremeux (5/10): there is a hint of lime, and the cremeux is wonderfully silky, but there is surprisingly not much flavor or chocolate. There were chocolate crunchy bits, but that didn't really make up for the bland cremeux. Would not recommend. I did hear that the toffee pudding was good though!

As usual a fantastic warm welcome and great to catch up with some old friends. Food was exceptional. Shame we couldn't have stayed for dinner!

Mark and I visit the church house regularly being our local, the staff are always so welcoming and warm and the food never lets us down. However, last night's dish topped it off for me, I had to have the sea food Ramen being caribbean and a seafood lover. Ohhhh it was cooked to perfection... oh the flavours, the textures and presentation was super fantastic. Definitely in my top 5 meals from the 58 countries I've visited so far. Very impressive, hats off to the chef ?‍? ??

Beautiful ancient pub, incredibly friendly and genuine staff who put me and my brother in front of a huge wood burning stove – it was a freezing night – and then served us the most delicious food I've had for a long time. We both had sirloin steaks with all the trimmings, the chips could have done with a little more colour but apart from that it was perfect. For dessert the bro had the ginger pudding with honey ice cream which he enjoyed very much and I had the brandy and vanilla crème brûlée, which was bliss on a plate. I would go back just to eat that alone!

Lovely old pub with fairly good food.

Really loved the setting - a proper cosy, country pub! The Sunday roast was tasty and there was a nice selection of veg, including cauliflower cheese. The roast was on the expensive side, and everything was a few £ more than on the online menu. The roast was a decent size portion although we weren’t overly full and had room for dessert. The crumble was really nice and the perfect size for something sweet after a roast - although we felt it was quite overpriced given the portion size. Our dessert also took a long time to arrive, I think it had been forgotten initially but no massive issue as we weren’t in a rush.
