Calancombe Estate
The Calancombe Estate Nr Modbury SouthHad a voucher for the Calancombe Estate as a birthday gift. We didn’t even know it existed! By the time we got there from Plymouth, the heavens opened & it poured down hence we couldn’t walk the vineyards or look around the estate as we planned. Decided on a coffee & walked into a beautiful restaurant. Ended up having a small starter of anchovies & another of warm sourdough with tomatoes & olive oil. Both were delicious & well presented. Nickalau was front house & was extremely knowledgeable on the estate, the tours & the wine itself. We spent the voucher on a selection of White & Rose wines, unfortunately they haven’t introduced making the red! Nickalau went through the wines with us & even asked us to sit at the bar where he let us sample a selection before deciding. Everything was immaculate, from the glasses neatly placed, to the shiny cutlery & the neatly placed tiny glass vase of fresh flowers. Would definitely come back for one of the tours/events or just for a meal to enjoy the ambience of such a lovely place. Thank you Nickalau for your friendly welcome & beautiful smile ?

The Avon Inn
Plymouth Rd, Avonwick, South BrentHad a delicious meal of home made chips and crab cakes with a side salad. My hubby had home made pie and chips also was the best. Friendly staff . Lovely quirky pub. Will definitely be going back there.

Car park is small but there is an overflow car park near the village hall.
I had a roast and friends explored the menu, reporting that the nut roast, beanburger and fish and chips were also delicious ?
