The menu says "famous" chilli - it should say "bland" chilli because, apart from a dose of salt and a touch of chilli, it has little taste. You'd think a "coffee house" would choose good beans, but it's the standard English cafe variety.

Okay so we ordered a veggie breakfast nap and a cream tea. The scone arrived immediately and was eaten whilst we waited 15 mins for the nap. Why not bring them out together? The veggie nap arrived, it was mushroom, spinach, egg and tomato. But the spinach and tomatoes weren't cooked! Half cold and half warm bap. So strange! The chef doesn't know anything about veggie food clearly. The bap also came with tortilla crisps and a sweetcorn and raw carrot salsa ? so so strange. So not worth it. Vegetarians and vegans beware!!

Nice little cafe beside the market. Fairly basic menu but lovely cakes etc, & generous sized coffees. Lovely in the summer if you sit outside, and cosy inside in the winter. Major, major drawback though, is that there are no toilet facilities. There are public toilets close by in the market (open until 4pm), but both times I've been to Dukes recently they've been out of commission (for cleaning or just closed). There are 24hr ones opposite the Post Office but it's not convenient and puts me off going unfortunately.

Friendly welcome at busy cafe between the main road and the market. The food was freshly cooked, hot and appetising, with portions of a good size. There's a varied choice on the menu and the main courses are complemented by a range of desserts and cakes. There is seating inside and outside.

Stopped here a few times when visiting Tavistock, but we ate today we had the Christmas panini, and must say how disappointed we was, for the price, the salad was a token gesture, the filling was mainly stuffing, not much turkey, the waitress was very friendly and

I always enjoy the breakfast roll with an Americano here. Today was as good as all previous visits.

Always lovely food. Obviously homemade and fresh each day. Mum had the soup and it was delicious while I had their awesome chilli. Always like visiting here when in town. The staff are always superb and helpful

Really sad, took my Mum out for lunch, this used to be our favourite cafe in town. During yesterday's visit, ordered a panini, coke, hot chocolate and toasted tea cake. Panini came first, cheese barely melted. Then waited 5/10 minutes for the drinks and tea cake - which were walked outside from the other side of the cafe in cold weather so was cool by the time it got to us. Regular hot chocolate was tiny. The prices are extortionate for the standard of food and service you get. Also, the waitress wearing gloves from the takeaway hatch to the cafe, why wear gloves? You kept them on and didn't wash your hands once... Won't ever return, very sad how it's gone down hill and seems this is the case as other poor reviews

Had breakfast food tasted ok not as good as port o call but ok . But the did the cardinal sin of breakfasts. They put the beans in a ramekin!!!!! . If you want them separate ask for it ! I then had greasy fingers had to wipe on the napkin provided for after, then made table greasy my knife greasy. Why ? Why would you did this it’s not fancy it inconvenient. My partner had a bacon and Brie panini she said was alright ! Also coffee was served in really big cups which made the coffee go cold real quick so was cold by the time the food came out which was quite speedy to be fair.

My husband and I went to Dukes yesterday. I ordered soup and my husband had a cream tea. My husbands cream tea arrived five minutes later. Twenty five minutes later I still hadn't got my soup. When asked about it we were told, there's nothing they can do as it comes from another kitchen. Then she promptly went and ladled my soup into a bowl and put the roll on a plate and brought it out. I smiled and thanked her, but she wasn't happy. After a couple of hours walking around Tavistock, we decided to try again. It wasn't busy. We sat down and fifteen minutes later, we still hadn't been served. Other people on two other tables that arrived after us, were served right away. We got up and left. The food is lovely here, but the staff need training. All we did was ask how long the soup would be and were not rude to the staff, so they had no reason to be rude to us.

Used togo to Dukes lots years ago but haven’t been to Tavistock in a while, thought I would have lunch there today, but was so disappointed with the sandwich I ordered., ordered Bacon and Brie toasted sandwich well so disappointed it was the thinnest sandwich ever bacon had been cooked a while as it was hard must have been the thinnest bread they could buy, a desert spoon of salad could have counted the leaves a coupe loaf chopped up celery and about 8 piece of sweetcorn, wish I had taken a photo, plus a regular cappuccino smallest every again. The only good thing was the millionaire shortbread. In total it was nearly £17.00. The sandwich was £9.00 over priced for what you got . Sadly won’t be going back or recommending
