Taylors
22 Market St, TavistockService was EXCELLENT. Garlic mushroom starter, tasted and looked great, mushrooms were rubbery? Calamari cooked perfect. Roast pork and beef dinner nice, beef was fatty though, the biggiest let down was the roast potatoes, not crunchy, cold, soft, could have done with a hotter oven and 7 mins longer? Chocolate brownie and coffee excellent. Price ok. Accept Dogs.

The Stranded Sheep
1 Pepper St, TavistockBest wraps ever! Staff were fantastic with my 6 year old and made the wrap to her desires! She said it was the best wrap she had ever had, which is high praise indeed considering chicken wrap is her go to meal of choice. Milkshakes to die for and especially loved the Halloween touch with the purple cream and jelly spider! Thankyou it was worth driving from Yorkshire for (just kidding I had other reasons to be in Tavistock, but my next journey may just be because I need a wrap from you). Friendly staff, great value for money, fantastic menu choice and customised ordering.

Cafe Liaison
3 Church Ln, TavistockThis is our local Coffee shop, we now default to this over any other. Highly recommended, lovely staff. Admittedly we are quite regular customers now, it has gotten to the point our order is predictable.Highly recommend the combination of Cheesy Chips and medium oat mocha (1 shot oat latte and 2 shot oat mocha pictured).Vegan options for those with dietary restrictions etc as well, and will modify the strength of coffees should you have any issues with caffeine.Parking is available either long stay for 4hrs at £2 or shorter stay for around the same at the nearby Russell Street.Hi to Natasha, Rachel and the gang, see you in the week (work allowing :3)Dietary restrictions: They have Vegan options and will do Soya and Oat milk for coffees. Some vegan cake options, just ask.Kid-friendliness: Always nice to the children, has some colouring crayons and activities upstairs and at the rear of downstairs.Have not been stopped from doing colouring in either, despite not technically counting as a child >_>' .

King Street Bakery
2 King St, TavistockBy far the best bakery in Tavistock but it's a secret that only true local Tavy people know about. Pasties are off the scale and nearly make up for the fact that technically they're meat parcels as not from Cornwall.Best meal deal in the world that includes a large pasty, Burts crisps and a can of fizzy pop for a £5.

POPPY'S café
29, the market, Market Rd, TavistockIt's very rare to come across great customer service, but Poppy's cafe certainly came up trumps! I had ordered a sausage, bacon and egg baguette, which btw was enough for two, so I shared it with my brother in law. When it arrived, the waitress offered me some tomato ketchup in a satchet, and I've had the same type before and they taste awful, so I told her and said it was a shame they didn't have any Heinz. 2 minutes later she came out with a small ramikin dish full of Heniz ketchup and said the chef had scoured his cupboards for it!! Well, I had to tell her when we left it was the best value for money brunch we'd had, complemented by the excellent customer service. Thank you Poppy#s Cafe, you made a lovely day, even lovelier. xx

The Mary Tavy Inn
3 Lane Head, TavistockA cosy tavern on the fringes of Dartmoor. Plenty of choice when it comes to ales, ciders and lagers. Friendly helpful bar staff and a comfortable atmosphere all round. Well behaved dogs welcome. A covered patio area overlooking the wooded valley below with beautiful views of Dartmoor beyond. I didn't notice whether food was on offer. Will certainly calk in again for a pint after a day walking the Moor. Thanks.

Secret Stable Pizza
Milton Abbot, TavistockIf you're in a rush, this is not the place for you. This place is one of my favourites. The pizza is amazing, this atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are lovely. The dates are announced in advance and generally released on 1st of the month. It's not the cheapest, but it to value for month.Your ticket covers the pizza and they offer additional starters and dessert. The garlic bread with rosemary and mozzarella is stunning, I can never decide what to chose for main, but anything with hot honey is always a winner, and if you can't manage a dessert you have to try a hot chocolate. The serve a range of hot drinks and limited soft drinks, but you can bring a thing you want to drink as no extra cost. This place is a real experience and just makes me happy. It's not everyone's cup of tea (especially the walk back up to the car from the farm), but we've been coming for years and won't be stopping anytime soon!Vegetarian options: Vegan cheese is also availableParking: The car park is at the to of the hill; fun walk there, tough walk back
