Had a lovely evening celebrating a friend’s special birthday. The food and service was brilliant. I had the celeriac tart tartin with Gruyère and truffle which was delicious. The chocolate and hazelnut mousse was light as a feather . A perfect venue for a group party.

We used Anita for a private function which she catered for at our air b and b and we had an absolutely amazing service from her and Lola. The food was delicious, hot and courses timed perfectly, as well as care and attention taken to cater for all the guests needs and allergies etc. Anita was friendly and approachable before hand and nothing seemed too much trouble. Would highly recommend and will definitely be using again when visiting the area! Thank you ?

Having met Anita-Clare some years ago with her trusty French blue van, we had often meant to drive to Witheridge for a meal but never quite got there. My husband is a Coeliac and lactose intolerant which means eating out is never easy but with our 20th wedding anniversary fast approaching, I contacted Anita-Clare and a menu was chosen and she arrived at our house at the duly appointed time and date and cooked one of the best meals we have ever eaten. It was wonderful for us not to have to worry about cross-contamination or any potential upset and she even sourced lactose free cheeses for our final course that included a Burrata which is unbelievable as it is usually made with mozzarella cheese and cream and laden with lactose. It was superb. The lemon cheesecake decorated beautifully with fruits and edible flowers was just incredible and we could not believe it was vegan (not that we are) but just brilliant. Desserts are usually nothing more than a fruit salad or sorbets for my husband so what a treat. Anita- Clare was also fun to chat with whilst in the kitchen with us and so friendly and her food knowledge outstanding. She also did the washing up and all in all, it was just superb. I will be booking her again to cook for a slightly larger party later in the year in our home and cannot recommend her enough. She is a credit to her chosen profession.

Had a wonderful meal here started with a very tasty Coquille Saint Jacques, followed by plump juicy Moules Frite and rounded off with Creme brulee....no room for Cheese! Beautifully fresh ingredients in this very small and friendly restaurant what a great find in deepest Devon. Excellent food, locally sourced with great service for a very reasonable price. Will definitly revisit.

This was our first visit booked for three and what a great surprise. The staff were charming and the food was so delicious. The steak was so beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. We were all happy with all of our three courses and the wine, which was very reasonable, was very much up to scratch. Well done La Petite Bouchee and thank you.

Thank you so much for another lovely evening. This was our 6th visit and this time for our wedding anniversary. Pre-ordering our food is an excellent idea, it gives time to make a proper choice and ensures no wasted food. We loved our choices of the pulled jack fruit starter (the best that I have ever had), the red mullet main course was delicious and our desserts - the vegan sticky toffee pudding and the sticky toffee apple pudding were sublime! Thank you.

I booked La Petite Bouchée a while ago to cook a meal for four for a special occasion and admit to being anxious about having someone using my kitchen in my presence. I needn’t have worried, Anita-Clare arrived armed with a small, cool box-cum-flight bag and swept in like a culinary version of Mary Poppins. Not being a great fan of formality, I had expressly asked for a casual and informal approach, Anita-Clare prepped, cooked, served and removed the most incredible food in an unobtrusive and relaxed fashion. I am dairy-free and hate to ask for special treatment on my behalf but my requests were very well met; every course was dairy-free however, nobody would be able to tell ingredients had been swapped out - from start, to finish the meal was utterly fantastic. Everything was spot on. Taking inspiration from suggested likes and dislikes Anita-Clare had carefully selected three courses of delicious food; prawn and scallop rillettes, duck breast on roti and lemon cheesecake, as with every skilled craftsman the entire thing seemed to be effortlessly executed, but the results were superb! My concern about formality was unfounded, the chef put us all at ease, we felt pampered and very spoilt. At the end of the meal, the kitchen was cleaned, the washing up done, Mary Poppins took her bag and left four very happy customers. Thank you Anita-Clare, you’re a complete star!

I’ve wanted to visit LPB for about 4 years but the stars had never aligned then covid happened and scuppered my plans. I was sincerely hoping that my long awaited supper plans weren’t like that youth club disco snog with the chap you’d fancied all year but would turn out to be nothing like you’d thought!!! Turns out that on this occasion I need not have worried and it was better than expected - is that actually. We’d had a pretty rubbish week with one thing or another but our Friday night supper restored our faith that there was some little pockets of light in the world. The food of was to die for thanks A-C, the service was just perfect, champagne cocktail perfectly executed and the setting left us pinching each other cheeks!

Ordered large lasagnes (3 meat and 1 veg) for a large group of us staying at a nearby local farm and they were absolutely gorgeous. Anita was really helpful and so responsive. Really recommend for anyone looking for a special meal-at-home idea.

Last night Anita Clare came to our house to cook for a dinner party for my husband’s birthday. What can I say, oh wow, oh wow. The food was absolutely delicious, everyone agreed. The French onion soup was so tasty but the chocolate mousse was to die for. Not only did Anita Clare cook a fabulous meal but she cleared up too. What more could you ask for? A wonderful evening made even better by a dedicated, talented chef. Thank you so much. Will do that again soon.

This was our first visit to La Petite Bouchee and will certainly not be our last. On arrival we were warmly greeting by the young waitress, followed by the chef/patron who remembered we'd not long moved to the area. All our food was excellent, my steak was cooked perfectly (I like it rare) and was melt in the mouth. My husband loved his moules main his only regret being he didn't have any bread to mop up with but he managed with a spoon. All in all, it was a lovely evening with a relaxed intimate atmosphere - it's always a good sign when all the guests end the evening chatting.

Been a while trying to get a table with our friends here (bookings only) but we got one. Easy to find in the town and old French van out front a major give away. Quirky entrance way and into a lovely dining room in a private house...brilliant. Pre booked and food was outstanding... French onion soup AMAZING as was Tomato Tart tatin. Chicken and leek pies/moules and steak fries - perfect food finished off with beautiful creme Brulee. Loved the attention to detail - flowers on plates divine. Yes we pigged and did a cheese board too. Just perfect end to a lovely day in Mid Devon
