On recommendation, we visited this utterly charming pub between Christmas and New Year. You are met by a very warm atmosphere not only because of the two roaring log burners but also the friendly landlord and the numerous locals, in for an early Friday night drink or meal. If you search out this 14th century gem, you must not leave without sampling something off the enticing menu. I can highly recommend the Pork and pear cassoulet. Delicious. And there were enough other delights on offer to guarantee a return visit at the earliest opportunity. Great Devon ales on draft and a friendly resident pub dog. There is truly nothing to not like about the Tally Ho.

Fantastic pub - a snug friendly local, with log fires and great ales, but also amazing food of the highest quality. One of the best pubs I’ve been to and I’ve been to a few!

Finally managed to get back here today to try the Sunday roast after visiting in the summer .Beautifully presented on lovely expensive plates, food is so much nicer when served on nice tableware . ,and I love the modern twist on the way it was presented. My only criticism would be the potatoes weren't very roasted but maybe because we ate early . Husband managed a dessert which was delicious and again presented beautifully, staff are attentive and welcoming. The place was warm and cosy and just has a real country pub feel to it .which is exactly what it is .

Excellent food and service. A lovely traditional village pub with roaring log fires - warm and with a welcome to match. Food was exceptionally tasty and very generous portions. Everything on the menu looked tempting. Good range of well kept beer. We have lived in the area for over a year and regret that this was our first visit - it definitely won’t be the last.

Always a favourite destination of ours and we weren’t disappointed last night. From the new winter menu we chose the Portuguese fish stew and the haunch of venison. Both meals were delicious, hot and generous portions. The pub was warm with the fires lit and a great atmosphere and ambiance. Staff as always were friendly and attentive. They have got everything just right - thank you and see you again soon.

My husband, myself and 8 friends went here for my birthday. The place is absolutely outstanding. It was a cold night but it was really warm and cosy inside. We were greeted with a lovely welcome and shown to our table. We had precooked our meals. Our meals arrived and I must say it is the best steak I have ever had by miles. My husband said the same about his steak, you could eat each and every mouthful without chewing it and not one bit of fat on it. My friends had different meals and also enjoyed theirs. Our plates were taken away when we had finished and not sat there like some places. Staff made sure we were looked after coming over regularly to the table for drinks and the dessert menu was offered, but, my friends had got me a cake so staff brought over plates, knife and serviettes with no problem. All the staff are lovely. The place is a little gem and we will certainly be going back. My friends had been before and said it is outstanding which is why they took me there. At the end of the evening, we got talking to the owner or the manager who was a really nice gentleman. To make my evening he gave me a bottle of champagne. We were having such a great time we forgot to take photos !! I speak on behalf of myself and my friends, thank you for making our evening so wonderful.

Wow where do I start with this country pub. We came here a couple of weeks ago for a group meal, the food was fantastic, the pub was clean and the atmosphere was perfect, however one thing that stood out to all of us were the staff. The loveliest girl and owners behind the bar and doing the waiting, so helpful, cracking sense of humour and just went that extra mile to make our already fantastic evening that extra bit special, they really looked like they loved their work which was so lovely to see and says so much about this pub.We will all definitely be returning in the future. P.S highly recommend the pork cutlet!

Visited with my wife and friends for a meal and drinks. Great choice of ales, superb menu and great service. All the food is locally sourced, meat from Dart farms and fish from Brixham. The chef knows his stuff, beer is well looked after and it's a comfortable old pub, full of character with a great atmosphere. Cannot fault it.

Had an absolutely delicious meal here one evening on our holiday - so good we came back two days later! The food was really excellent, and the hosts were very friendly too - both to us, and our dog! We will absolutely be returning when next visiting Devon.

Wonderful ambience, lovely staff and fabulous food! A real gem near Totnes, this old inn is warm and welcoming to regulars and visitors alike. The food is hot and delicious. We had scallops to start, cooked to perfection. Main courses were also delicious and the home made puds..... gorgeous! Very dog friendly....our two were provided with treats. The beers and wine were lovely too. A perfect evening out.

Lovely welcoming pub. We came for lunch on Friday and once settled in the garden with a beer, looked at their fish specials menu which was offered alongside their normal one. All the dishes sounded inviting. We both had the blackened trout fillet served with a prawn risotto, crispy kale and onion, which was absolutely delicious and enjoyed with a glass of Picpoul. They offer a good selection of beers, wine by the glass and service is friendly and efficient. We wanted to stay for cheese and another glass of wine but rain was due and we had walked from Totnes. Look forward to returning for that cheese!
