It is difficult to put into words how special this place is. Complete tonic - peaceful, ultra comfortable luxury. The accommodation is out of this world, but it is the people who work here that are the real difference. From the moment of arrival to every interaction -reception, bar staff, restaurant staff, activity centre staff everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. Really get the impression that they enjoy working here. We played golf, ate in the restaurant and drank in the bar ( all superb). The manor house has beautiful comfortable reception rooms including an open fire, original features and felt like home. Thank you for the most extraordinary break.

I booked here as a treat for my boyfriends 40th birthday. On check in we found out we had been upgraded to the ‘Neil’ room. We were delighted! Staff were amazing and friendly. The hotel is stunning. The room was beautiful and grand. We had a drink in the bar, followed by use of the spa facilities which was relaxing and enjoyable. The evening we had a meal in the restaurant. I had requested a window seat and this is what we had! To our surprise, the staff had placed a birthday decoration on the table which we thought was a nice little touch. The food was lovely, the staff were professional and attentive. We truly had such a lovely stay! We will definitely be back!

Lovely place to stay with stunning views. We had a room just by the main house. The only thing I would recommend is to put an umbrella in the room as we had to walk in the rain to get to the celler bar & restaurant. The room was spacious & well equipped, it was spotless. The service was the best we've had from start to finish. Karis on reception was really helpful guiding us through where everything was, we were shown to our room & where to park by the friendly Latheaf. We had a fabulous Swedish massage from the lovely Zoe who was excellent & we would highly recommend. We dined in the restaurant in the evening & Alex was great at cocktails in the cellar bar, we were attentively looked after by Teon & Devlin. Jake, Jay & Holly cooked such tasty delicious food & we thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only is this a beautiful place to stay you are treated extremely well & the staff obviously care.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the mole . We had a three bed lodge With two bathrooms . From the moment we arrived , we were met with genuinely friendly and helpful staff who often went out of their way to help and make our stay outstanding. The lodges themselves are nothing short of spectacular, spotlessly clean and equipped with high quality, top of the range fixtures and fittings etc. no expense has been spared making these buildings so amazing. You felt as if every single detail was carefully considered and even then taken up a level. You could easily compare them to the best hotel rooms anywhere, but they are so much more. Sitting on the outside deck , reading or watching the stars from the jacuzzi you feel relaxed and a bit special. The location is great with Exmoor and Dartmoor on either side yet still within easy reach of the North Devon coast. In summary, the Mole Resort at the Highbullen Hotel is so much more the sum of its parts it deserves all the success in the future. PS I thought I should should list at least one or two criticisms for balance….. but honestly, none of us could think of any.

As a member the Mole Resort is really coming along . The lodges are great and keep the view from the spa. Great staff, all are so friendly and knowledgeable in their field . The booking app is so much better also .Soon the cafe will be up and running so that will great for everyone that uses the spa and gym . Can’t really complain as it’s a great improvement from how HighBullen used to be . Hopefully will make the village a vibrant place over the summer.

We have stayed at Highbullen several times over the past few years choosing it for it’s tranquility, , location, ambience, excellent dining and facilities that came without apparent commercialism. Sadly, with multiple lodges popping up faster than mole hills, the charm of this now Mole branded facility, was not there for us this time. The restaurant menu was not great, we were not allocated the room we had requested (even though we double checked the week before) but were given a tiny room you could not swing a cat in instead (the snug!) The bar games rooms with pool and snooker tables were not in use (which had not been mentioned at the time of booking) and there was building/renovation works all over the place, both inside the main hotel and across the grounds. In the evening, there was a live singer who was overbearingly loud in the tiny cellar bar. From our perspective as couples looking for restful quality, we felt that the place expanding to cater for the masses had diminished its charm. Saying that, you cannot be uninspired by the amazingly beautiful views from the Highbullen Hotel and the hotel staff were all really friendly. We particularly enjoyed meeting Devlin the waiter who was charming and an asset to the place.

We've just come home from a lovely weekend at the mole. My wife and I came down for a relaxing break and it delivered. We had an excellent meal on Saturday night in the restaurant and enjoyed the singer at the bar afterwards. The room was really comfortable and warm. The only 2 negative points were the unavailability of lager in the hotel bar and as a golfer I feel that the course needs some tlc. The fairways were more like a first cut of rough and the greens had a lot of moss on them but it is march so that's forgivable. All in all though a great stay and can't wait to come back at the end of April.... hopefully with lager!!

This was our third stay at the hotel, and while we generally enjoyed our stay I'm not sure it is the place for us in the future. It is rather confusingly a mixture of the old characterful Highbullen Hotel and the new Mole resort, and it has now a more holiday resort feel than a cosy country house hotel break feel - for example the restaurant has been (in our view) downgraded to more of a bistro feel; gone are the lovely white table cloths and instead a much bigger menu and plain wooden top tables. I'm sure most people would prefer this, and the food was good and the restaurant staff were excellent, indeed as were all the staff we met during our stay. Our room was good, a comfortable bed, great views in the main old hotel. However the one part we really didn't like - sorry! - was the new Hub reception area. It was a big, bleak barn of a place leading into a big, bleak games room, with music playing which gave the feel of the reception area of a holiday park, think Sandy Bay or Ladram Bay. However again, this might be much more preferable to the sporty guest who wants an activity break staying in one of the new lodges dotted around the hotel. The set up doesn't, for us, seem to know what it is anymore. The country house hotel feeling has gone, compared to our previous stays. We wish this new style resort great success in the future, but we are unlikely to return for that sort of package.

We stayed in a double delux room for 2 nights. The room itself was very large, the bathroom was fine and the room was cleaned whilst we ate breakfast which doesn't always happen in this day and age! The bar was very hot which i'm sure suited some as it was January but was probably too hot for ourselves. The food in the bar/restaurant was ok, the menu was maybe a bit limited and somewhat different to what you might expect in such a location. We ate the duck burger on the first night but went elsewhere on the second night as we felt the selection and price didn't meet our needs. We drink lager but there was no draught lager available after the first night which was a shame. The swimming pool temperature was quite cool, when we stay in hotels that have pools the temperature is normally a few degrees up on this one, maybe this is due to energy costs i'm not sure. The jacuzzi had the same people occupying it the whole time we were there, not the fault of the hotel but a bit disappointing that people don't feel that they should make way for others at times! Overall the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and the hotel was very clean and well maintained.

We were having our bathroom worked on at home so decided to book a one night stay. The hotel is on a beautiful estate. They currently have building work going on and reception is in the hub rather than the main house. There wasn’t any signage to tell us this so we waited a while before finding a staff member who directed us. Other than that our stay was perfect. Our room was clean and spacious, leisure facilities good and food was really lovely quality. We will 100% be back!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for the night. Lovely room and we were very comfortable. The swimming pool / spa and gym were great. The food from the restaurant was lovely. My only criticism was we had no idea where to go when we got there as the reception is now in the hub. Very poor sinage etc! Otherwise fantastic stay you won't be disappointed!

excellent accomodation , main house is lovely, and basement and restaurant area really good. spent Christmas here, staff were excellent throughout but in particular bar and restaurant staff. food served during our stay was excellent, thank to the chef and kitchen staff who we didn't see. lovely to receive gift for us both on Christmas morning and also stocking left in our room on Christmas Eve (presume this was from Santa!). I understand certain parts of thebulding undergoing renovations early 2023, please don't loss the character of the house. would definitely recommend

Just returned from our second visit to the Highbullen Hotel (Mole Resort) and again, we had a wonderful time. The location in Devon is just stunning, with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The hotel is a mix of lodges, rooms and the original house. We had a room in the main house which was sumptuous and luxurious. The management have grand plans for the hotel which sound really exciting. However, the main benefit of this hotel is the staff, everybody from the General Manager to the house keepers and ground staff are friendly and helpful. A particular mention should be made of the F&B staff who make your stay very special, nothing is too much trouble and Jose, the F&B manager is a delight, with a wealth of knowledge about wine, food and things to do around the area. We love this hotel; our first visit was booked last minute as we had to cancel our honeymoon to Scotland and we decided to find somewhere more local to where we lived. How lucky we were to find the Highbullen. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel, enjoy the hotel, the location and the people that work there.
