On a rather wet day, we stopped in Abbotsbury looking for a cosy lunch spot. The dining room was quiet, but we were warmly welcomed on arrival and soon had delicious bowls of homemade spicy carrot and coriander soup to warm us up. The menu had several light lunch and afternoon tea options and there were lots of tasty looking cakes and scones on covered stands, but the soup and bread were quite filling so we didn’t try them. A lovely lunch. The only thing to flag is that the loos are public ones next door, entailing a walk outside in the rain.

Never disapoints, been visiting here for roughly 6/7 yrs. We've just spent another 2wks in lovely Dorset & always make this tea room a destination must.Visited twice this holiday & enjoyed both very much.Consistant quality, good service & throughly enjoyable, if I lived local I would be a regular.I bought their own little receipe book last visit & today made the little shortbread biscuits they give complentatory with hot drinks - they turned out lovely - thanks for exceeding our expectations, can't wait till our next visit.Ps - & allowing our dog in, as we couldn't visit you without her, thank youVegetarian options: Plenty of choice

Visited Abbotsbury for the day and wanted some tea and a snack. Wandered in here and was greeted by a very friendly man (didn’t catch his name). Lovely, homely feel in the tearoom. Very attentive staff and took our order quickly but didn’t rush us, ordered cream tea for 2 and it came quickly, was presented in pretty china and tasted great! Some bonuses are it was great value for money and it’s dog friendly so there were some cute dogs in there to fawn over!

It was an all round fantastic experience, we had a round of beautifully presented sandwiches and a pot of tea. We followed up with sharing a piece of ginger and rhubarb cake, my wife and I were overheard discussing clotted cream or custard. When the cake was delivered to the table we were presented with a jug of custard a portion of clotted cream so we were both extremely pleased. That is service for you. You could not want for a better food or service the owners are incredibly lovely people, a man and wife team.

Never disapoints. Been visiting here for last 6/7 yrs & was as good as ever this last holiday, so good we went twice. If I lived locally I would be a regular customer. Quality, presentation & service 10/10. Nice touches with delicious coleslaw & little shortbread biscuits with your drink add those finishing touches. I have today made those little shortbread biscuits from a recipe in a book purchased from the tea shop, and I'll be making them again. Lovely of them to share the recipe of what they provide so you can recreate a little of your experience when you get home. Can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend visiting this gem of a tea shop.

A great find! We were able to park almost outside, and with other options in the village, we were so pleased that we chose here for our lunch stop. The owners are a welcoming couple, clearly invested in their business,. with self prepared recipes and cakes etc. The soup was delicious, and having tea in a pot with bone china cups is a rare treat these days: the toasted sandwiches served with salad are exceptionally tasty. Information guides, walking routes and other books for browsing are available, and the whole atmosphere was pleasurable. We hope to be back in November!!

After a circular 6 mile walk from Abbotsbury down to Chisil Beach, we called in and enjoyed a delicious afternoon cream tea. Two homemade scones with jam and cream, all washed down with a generous pot of tea. Just perfect. The owners were so friendly.

Called in for tea in the afternoon - a good range of drinks and yummy homemade cakes, etc. We had Dorset apple cake, a local recipe, which was delicious. The fascination came with the information about the old school house that the cafe was housed in and a host who went out of his way to be hospitable and informative. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a light lunch. Nice olde world charm yet still minimalist. Efficient, friendly service and food presented with TLC. We had the soup of the day(pea, courgette and mint) with granary bread and a tuna and tomato toasted sandwich with fresh salad and slaw. Very impressed. Had a pretty garden too. Will return!

Generous portions, tasty home-made food. The plum cake was the best I’ve ever had - fluffy, moist, perfect balance between sweet and tart.

Fabulous! Good service, attention to detail, informative and friendly. No set kids menus but they adapted the “proper menu” (which I prefer…better than the standard chicken nuggets or fish and chips for kids). We were told the more peppery salad would be removed for the kids sandwiches and they came out with cucumber and tomato smiley faces…brilliant! Definitely recommend!

We cannot recommend this tea room enough. Fabulous food coupled with an amazing welcome. Every time we holiday in Dorset, we make sure we plan in a visit to see Sandra and Steve, as this really is the best tea room we have ever been to. If you are a fan of the tastiest sandwiches and unbelievable home baked cakes and scones in very pretty surroundings, this is the place for you ?
