Fantastic landlord! We only had some complementary roast potatoes ( which were delicious) as there was live entertainment on but the menu looked fantastic. It's now on our list to go and eat there.

Visited this great little pub during a half term holiday in nearby Salwayash. The pub is in a beautiful location overlooking some beautiful Dorset views; the Landlord is very friendly; the local Palmers beer, delicious; and the home cooked food, very tasty. I hope it’s paying a compliment by saying that the meals were the perfect size to make you feel full but not stuffed. Too often you visit places that overfill your plate: the Hare and Hounds chooses hearty dinners at manageable sizes. The choice was varied (got to love a place that served faggots), the food tasty and we’ve already booked to visit again. Thank you

Nestled within the heart of Dorset, this quiet pub provides quality food and an authentic English countryside experience. Bob is an exuberant and skilful host with a killer sense of humour, complementing the night as a whole. We will most definitely be back in this wonderful establishment…

We were so pleased to find this pub within walking distance of our holiday cottage, and we went three times to eat there. There was a warm welcome, the owners (Bob and Jenny) were lovely, they couldn't have been nicer. The food was good, home cooked and interesting menu choices too. Beautiful gardens.Best to book if you want to eat there. All in all, a treat!Vegetarian options: Interesting veggie choices - liked the sweet potato chilli and the mushroom and brie wellington.Parking: About 12 spaces.

You can't buy a view like that, but if you nurse a drink you can appreciate it for a while. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. I haven't eaten there yet, but I know from chatting that the food is all home cooked.

Lovely traditional pub hidden away in the Dorset lanes. I enjoyed beautiful fish and chips with lovely crispy after. The garden has lovely views over the countryside.

Welcoming landlord and friendly staff, nice beer garden, plenty of parking, lovely setting; food good, promptly served and nothing too much trouble. Narrow lanes to get there and check website as not always open?

We came here for lunch following a trip to the cider farm down the road and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat outside in their beautiful garden enjoying the views and the flowers. The pub owner was very friendly and had a laugh with us. Our paninis were lovely and a very fair price. A fabulous find and we will certainly be returning when we next holiday in Dorset!

We really enjoyed our visit and was one of the highlights of our trip when visiting Dorset. The service and food were fantastic and locally sourced, just wished we knew who the butcher was so we could buy some meat to take home with us! There is a lot of outdoor seating with a lovely view. We hope to come back again, thank you!

The highlight of our trip, this is a proper English pub with an eccentric and highly likable landlord who had a great sense of humour and excellent hospitality skills. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, the food menu was varied and I can honestly say I think anything on offer would have been tasty. As it was I had the chicken and ham pie and my Wife the vegetarian curry pie which was followed up by a first rate Bread and Butter pudding with homemade custard. Everything was clearly homemade and made with passion, the waitress was very attentive and overall we look forward to returning in the future, maybe a couple of pints in the excellent garden with another tasty meal? Five stars for the Hare and Hounds and long may they prosper.

We booked for a Sunday lunch while staying at Pineapple Farm Campsite. We sat outside enjoying fantastic views of the Dorset countryside although Bob had reserved us a table inside should we have wanted it. We sampled the beers before choosing, we ordered from the varied menu and enjoyed excellent home made food (curried vegetable pie and chips - fantastic, who knew?) I don't understand why it wasn't heaving with people. Our traditional country pubs need our support or we will just be left with with the bland, the faceless and the corporate. We will definitely be going back next time we visit the area.Vegetarian options: Half of our group were vegetarian and had plenty of choice.
