Dropped in for bite to eat. Started off in the cafe where we ordered food and tea. The cafe became rather busy with kids and colds, so we asked to move into the lovely little bar. No problem, the most accommodating staff moved us, and we ate in the no kids, no dogs Cosy bar. Delicious pie and mash for hubbyCheesy chips for me. Pot of tea. Hot, fresh, and very tasty. Lots of parking, disable baysMust be paid for. It gets very busy, so choose your days and times. Can't praise the guys who work in the cafe and bar enough. Happy, helpful chappies.Parking: Disable spaces are available but must be paid for.Kid-friendliness: Kids in the cafe not in the bar.

Nice food in the cafe although quite pricey sandwiches, probably because I chose crab. We unfortunately had a dog AND children - kids are allowed in cafe but not pub, and dogs are allowed in pub but not cafe. It was very rainy and we were soaked from the walk from Avon Beach so outside not an option and we needed to get dry. Luckily with two adults we could split up but if I’d been alone I would have been stuck.

One of my favourite pubs. Small and friendly with a cosy atmosphere. The food is brilliant and the staff are too.

Update Jan24:The restaurant and cafe have had their interiors refreshed and the place looks great. Menu has been a little revamped but very similar although less vegetarian options than before. Better desert range now. New range of beers and ciders!!Really fresh cooked food quickly brought out to you. Busy when we went so a bit of a queue to order but usually queue is only a few minutes. Great views over Christchurch harbour and Mudeford quay. Reasonable pricesThey've been serving inside for a few months now, it's a small friendly pub with real fires in winter. Great for locals and visitors.Vegetarian options: Yes there is a small selection of meals which are freshly cookedParking: Public parking for which you have to pay. Very busy in summer.

We come down every year on New Year’s Day around 14 of us with our little family’s.We always stop here for a New Year’s Day drink and spend a good amount considering there’s 7 who have 1-2 pints of Guinness and 2 bottles of Prosecco also. This year the weather was awful and the heavens opened, the cafe was full of people hiding from the rain and so we went into to pub with our 20 month old littles in our arms and was told to leave as children arnt allowed in the pub?Which I totally understand, however we clearly said it’s just to stay dry for a few mins with our little ones and we had already brought a fair amount of drink from the pub?? But were still asked to leave and go back out in the horrendous rain.I thought this was really really awful even after explaining our reasons.

Lovely food here always. However, today’s visit was not a very pleasant one! Went with family. 4 of us. Stopped for coffee and cake and was greeted by a young man. I gave him my order and was asked if I would mind one of my 4 coffees in a paper cup as they had run out of mugs. I asked if they could wash one up and was told that it wasn’t his job to do this but the kitchens. I was gobsmacked by his response and replied seriously?. But then told me I was being rude to him and produced the clean cup from the kitchen, made the 4 coffees and then slammed them down on the work side and sarcastically said “enjoy!” I do not find this acceptable. Such a shame as we have been here many times and have never had an unpleasant experience like this. Customer care guys!!

Used to be delicious fish and normal portions. Now a “regular” fish at £10.95 is about the size of two fish-fingers.
