Visited for dinner and it was disappointing given the price. The building is amazing and some of the food was great, but fish on crushed new potatoes with hollandaise is uninspiring and the vegetable stew was just dull. Some staff seemed disinterested which says a lot about this place. Not good enough sadly.

It’s a shame, the place has potential but at the prices charged the service is unacceptable (or actually non existent). There are too many examples of this to mentioned, however multiple forgotten orders and then being charged double for meals etc at the end gives you a good insight. I don’t think places charging this amount should have this level of service. Waste of money.

3rd visit and what a thoroughly average meal. The menu was ok but the delivery was mediocre gastro pub at best. Obviously when you're building a brand you care but then when the equity firms gets in, all it cares about profit and you can tell. Staff lovely as always but the food was just meh.

Went there for lunch and seriously other than the location and the building itself, it his highly overrated. Food was expensive, with average portions. Wine was very expensive, to the extreme. Service was average and the waiters being in casual clothes was a bit Bogan. I wouldn't ever think of going back. Been there done thatFood & drinks: Over priced and average portions

Our meal was delicious, our Australian waitress showed very good customer service. We didn't stay so can't comment on rooms. Can't wait to go back!

The mullet I was served for late lunch was not as fresh as it should be. The mussels were tasty. The mushy potato mess hiding under the fish looked like the drainage remains of the boil potato pot, I found some bits of brown peels in there.Food & drinks: Very poor, as if the cooks were packed up and could not be bothered.

Took my husband here for a birthday treat. From the moment we arrived I could tell it was not the same as a previous visit a few years ago. We were cordially welcomed but then left hanging around with staff moving by us with plates of food. It felt awkward and really we ought to have been invited to take a seat.We were finally ushered to our table and had 2 sommeliers and two waiters attend to us which was a bit confusing. Next we were served with our starter but no bread. Other tables were being offered it but they missed us, no idea why. The food was not anything to write home about and for the price pretty poor value. Don’t go for the chips; they were bad.We watched as the next table had a birthday treat which I was led to believe my husband would get too. But no, nothing. Just the bill. I did inform the staff member that the inattention was poor and did not pay the service charge. We didn’t bother with dessert and next time will go elsewhere for a special occasion. Or just generally.

This is a relaxing characterful place with amazing views and friendly service. Food is fresh and local, we have eaten here and at the Pig in Brockenhurst. It is a relaxed setting that they describe as 'shabby chic' so if you are looking for precision table laying and regimented table layouts or silver service waitressing this is not for you. However if you just love good food, a relaxed atmosphere where you are never rushed and great views this the place. I loved that the menu included unusual foraged ingredients. The service slowed down as the restaurant got busy but we weren't in a hurry and tbh why would you go somewhere like this to just 'eat and go'. Enjoyed being able to walk around the kitchen garden and chat to the gardener and a walk on the beach after was the perfect end to a lovely lunch. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back.

Amazing hotel and fantastic location. Came here for lunch to celebrate my mum's birthday. Would highly recommend the pickled crab on sourdough starter and the seabass for the main. The views of the jurassic coast are very special - a very cleat view out to old harry rocks and along to Studland and Poole.

Had lunch on a busy Friday. Food was excellent as all the other venues are and service was great. Many very beautiful walks surrounding it and the grounds themselves are also worth a stroll around.Walkability: Easy to get to from Swanage or StudlandFood & drinks: As good as expected.

Fantastic lunch. Food was delicious, staff were really friendly and accommodating. Loved the atmosphere. Special thanks to Ellie and Freya for really looking after us. We will definitely be coming back.

It's expensive.Service was not as impeccable as we've received previously (we've previously been in the daytime.... 6 or 7 times).Bread was served as slices not in table baskets. No butterNot as attentive... Had to go to bar on arrival to order drink, rather than waited..... Rushed into table..... Poured own wine etc.Food was still amazing!

I was very disappointed when I was there Saturday night with my parents. The location is great, and the building is lovely however the service was very poor. The staff were nice and pleasant however ordering was a challenge the wait for drinks on the table was like 30 minutes. A complete lack of flow not really what you expected for this price point. I ordered the lamb but the portion sizing was way out of proportion for the price some vegetables to go with a small plate of meat would of solved it

Great location. Lovely feel. High quality furnishing. Really enjoyed both our stays here recently. One in a shepherds hut and another in the house. Such attention to detail with the interior design and furnishings gives it the feel their price demands. The only slight disappointment is the reception from the Eastern European lady on the front desk. I’m not sure customer service is her calling in life. The restaurant is like the rest of the hotel and ground, lovely. Food is nice but perhaps not the level you would expect given the level of accommodation. It is however fairly priced.Rooms: Excellent.Nearby activities: Walk out to Old Harry’s Rock and beaches nearby

Location is beautiful, whole set-up feels special and remotely private. Good walk-in lunch date and a long hike. Fresh organic ingredients used. Dishes felt creative and hearty. Loved our lunch, service a bit slow and on the pricey side.
