No-one showed me to a table so I chose one. Noboby came to take my order...managed to read the whole of an old issue of Purbeck News whilst waiting. A sullen-faced woman (manageress?) propped up the bar with hands in pockets even when other folk arrived. I asked her if she worked there. She looked me up and down, then said 'of course, don't I look like I do?' I asked if she could take my order...seemed to be an effort. Waited another half hour for one vegetable tart to arrive. Had to ask the manager if I could pay...very off-hand. The vegetable tart was delicious but not sufficiently so to warrant another opportunity to witness those two sneering at people.

Lovely pub inside. Once seated, we were asked what drinks we wanted - I asked if I could have a Disaronno Sours - answer was no. No sorry or no sorry but we do other cocktails... Not clear if table service or if we had to order at the bar. Had to ask. Food was nice (not hot enough), but the staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and service was very slow. Added a 10% service charge to the bill which we did not want to pay. We rounded the bill up by a few pounds. Waitress said still £9.60 to pay once my friend had said she would pay £100 (our bill was £106). My friend pointed out the service charge was optional to be met with a distinctly unhappy face. Staff seemed friendlier with other diners (who I think were local).

Nice average pub 3.5/5. Typical pub grub, Sunday roast and burgers. Sticky toffee pudding very nice - big 'mini' portion with coffee. By the river - booked table but in a 'corridor' area. Tables with a view in pub section.

Visited here week before Xmas at lunchtime with my parents. We didn’t have a booking, but as we were early they found us a suitable table. Staff all very friendly & welcoming. The pub itself has a nice cosy atmosphere, with tables nicely spaced apart. We had sandwiches & a quiche which was one of their lunchtime specials. All nicely presented & tasty enough. By the time we left it was very busy, staff though seemed to be coping very well. Would definitely revisit. Dog friendly which is always a bonus.

Heard a lot about this place being the perfect spot for Christmas. I am not from this area but my partner is. So we book for Christmas Day. My partner had the duck which was ok was lacking in a few areas but that was good. My daughters messed was huge but the houmas was way to spicy and watery. I ordered the charcuterie expecting almost like a little board …. I ended up with coleslaw and a few slices of meat with not even a quarter of a fig???? I’ve been to places that charge the same price and I got a fall charcuterie board so I was slightly annoyed. Then we come to the turkey lunch …. Loads of cabbage and Brussels sprouts … couldn’t eat them my daughter didn’t want them either. They were also overcooked. One slice of carrot which was barely cooked, the tiniest parsnip. Stuffing was good but hardly any. Turkey was really dry. We had gravy but not enough I had to have some of my daughters. Found a brown hard lump in the gravy of which I realised was marrow bone, probably from beef so had beef gravy with turkey. The potatoes looked amazing but they were tough and cold in the middle. Swede mash was lovely can’t fault that. Would have preferred cauliflower cheese to all the cabbage on my plate. My daughter couldn’t even eat half the things apart from a Yorkshire pudding and the carrot everything else was to hard to eat. So I asked for a doggy bag in an attempt to maybe get her to try and eat some later. We came to the puddings which my daughter had icecream which was lovely but the letdown was the cheese cakes. Burnt orange on the top with a split sauce and candied peel which tasted disgusting. The biscuit base was lovely but the cheesecake was like a hard set pancetta without any flavour. My partner could stand his spoon up in it. My sensory issues went off after I put it in my mouth and realised it wasn’t anything like a cheesecake, I tried to swap with my daughter because she wouldn’t eat her icecream and even she wouldn’t eat it. It was very stodgy. My partner ate both deserts because we had paid £200 not including drinks and didn’t want to waste the food we had paid for. All in all we are so disappointed because it seems like the food fell short. We didn’t feel like we could speak to the manager about it on Christmas just because it’s Christmas. I even left my Diet Coke that cost a lot because that also tasted awful. I hope this place can do better but unfortunately we won’t be coming back

A family get together of 10, for a Christmas get together lunch . Well, a private room, well presented table & appropriate music gently piped through. Staff were just excellent as were the meals served up. We had Christmas turkey dinners and a few extras and drinks and both the food & service were great. Quite simply a lovely place to enjoy a good meal & service at a reasonable price.

It was a busy Friday night in December when I visited the Old Granary for dinner. We managed to get a table at short notice. They ran out of the turkey roast, but the nut roast and venison we chose in its place were delicious. The service was friendly but a little slow. The Christmas decorations looked great and the pub is in a lovely location. Parking tonight was difficult but fortunately we know a few side roads and were able to find a space on the road just five minutes away.

Food was excellent. Service and friendliness could be significantly improved. Asked for a gin and got a gin and tonic and facial expression suggested it was my fault

The pub is located in a nice little village by the canal. It is a decent place to stop by for some lunch and drinks.

What a beautiful pub ! Lovely welcoming staff with an Excellent selection of beers and spirits. We ordered food from the lunch menu and had a BLT and a Fish finger sandwich which was absolutely delicious. I would go out of my way to come back !

Decent chain type pub with a good variety of food. Nice location on the wharf, lots of space inside.

Two and a half hours for just 2 courses rather slow yet not that busy. Food small portions, overcooked fish pie, hake and chips came without any sides or dressing for £22. Summer pudding total disaster, some squashed dark sludge inside a rolled up piece of bread a slim as my finger served with three blueberries, one raspberry and one under ripe strawberry cut into four. Only time I have ever sent a desert back, it was terrible. Wish I had taken a picture of it now to prove it.

We encountered a really weird policy with IDs here - my 26-year-old friend forgot her ID but had multiple photos of her passport and driving license and they wouldn’t accept them, even though we were clearly a group of older adults and the law is you only have to be 16 if you’re with adults and eating a meal (which we were). Service was pretty unfriendly and obstinate and we ended up leaving after one drink.

We had a Sunday lunch here on the way to Durdle door. And was pleased to have a beef Sunday roast, Very filling with staff that were busy but helpful and friendly too.
