Hello everyone, The Bull at Swyre is under new management. The restaurant and bar are not open, but the holiday accommodation and caravan park are. We are offering long lets at reasonable prices. We are also looking for someone to run the pub and serve simple food. See website for more details.

What a shame rang got a hello when answered, asked if open tonight and said "no we're not", bit blunt!

Food very good but can't go again as very uneven to walk with out help from Sharron and Garry and others would have fallen badly thanks xx

Very large pub, very few customers, with a car park like a builders yard. Apparently the Sunday carvery is good, not tried it myself.

Would give no stars but can't didn't have any food didn't have any pinot only had Guinness in a can and the Archers was not the make it advertised. My advise would be don't bother

If I could put zero stars, I would. Made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment we walked in, despite having booked a table for the carvery in advance as they were the nearest pub to our holiday park. Was "shown" to a table and then completely ignored whilst customers who arrived after us were served.Obviously the man acting as a waiter and the chap acting as the barman were out of their depth, so after 15 minutes or so of being treated like the invisible family, we got up and left....quickly sidestepping the tins of paint next to the door!Went straight to The Crown in the next village and were treated like absolute royalty......will never go to The Bull again, that's for sure.

What a dump, said it was open at 11am arrived at 1pm, closed as closed can be, saw 2 workmen go in through a side door, popped my head in to be greeted by a surly lady who informed me that the pub was closed due to lack of customers.Well....duh...if you're shut you aren't going to get customers.Big aggressive bull mastiff roaming the bar, i used to have an English mastiff, so I'm not scared of big dogs, but i would'nt bring my children here.Dark dingy, rude owner, dated decor.Didn't even eat here, However, judging by the other reviews we had a lucky escape.

Looked at the reviews, it looked like it would not be great. However, it was quite close. So though we would have a try and had a nice meal, the staff were friendly. I could not fault the service or the food. Many thanks will pop in again when we are down that way again.

Checked their website before heading out, said was open, turned up at 1 pm. 2 men sitting outside, asked if it was open, they replied with " they're not sure yet". Popped my head in the door to politely enquire if they were going to open. The reply was " nah not till 6 mate" I replied "but your website says you're open, "well we don't go by our website, we go by footfall, and it's been quite". Well DUH!! Of course if you're shut, you aren't going to get customers in. I sure as hell wouldn't go back to this dim, dark, dank, depressing pub. Rude staff and very inhospitable.

Had Sunday carvery 19/6. Superb value for money and good quality. Meat was lovely and moist. Good choice of vegetables that were for us were well cooked to our taste (perhaps less so if you like yours crunchy). First course was large but couldn't resist enjoying a lovely home made rhubarb crumble and custard. Everything was kept topped up with fresh vegetables just before you were called up to be served. Not at all rushed. Do support them! Our rating of 5 stars is based on its value for money in addition to it delivering the quality you expect from a pub carvery meal as opposed to a Michelin starred restaurant.

Lovely little place to stop and have lunch. I remember visiting many years ago and am really happy to see the pub is still in business.I had the Chicken Schnitzel club sandwich and my partner had the Prawn Marie Rose baguette. Both meals looked smelled and tasted absolutely wonderful. The staff are friendly and the ambience is lovely.Keep up the good work.--Tim

Travelling home from a couple of days in Lyme Regis we fancied a country pub lunch to set us on our way and stumbled upon this little gem. The food was good, the service was excellent, and it has the most amazing "secret" beer garden. We're not particularly "pub" people but if this were our local then we could become so.

My wife and I popped into this pub for a drink and the possibility of having some food as we saw online it was pet friendly. As we walked in they seemed to be surprised at our appearance and when we asked about having a drink the landlady called the barman to serve us. At this time my wife saw a dog , a bull mastiff type dog walk around the back of the bar and she hear the landlady say to the barman to lock the gate. As the barman came around to clear a table for us the bull mastiff appeared from nowhere and viciously attacked our Cavalier King Charles which we had on a lead. My wife quickly grabbed our dog who was yelping at the onslaught whilst I tried grabbing the collar of the mastiff to pull him off. I had to use 2 hands plus the barman behind me to pull him off our dog leaving her frozen in fright at what had just happened to her. We took her outside to check her over and thankfully she was ok but really frightened. The landlady appeared with my wife’s shoe in her hand asking if our dog was ok but never offered an apology. So be very wary if you have small children or dogs because our dog would have been severely injured if not worse if it hadn’t been for our quick actions.

Very depressing atmosphere- dim lighting but not in a romantic sense. Everything seemed old fashioned and also a bit grimy. Very limited menu . Nothing vegetarian at all which in this day and age is unusual. Expensive too for what it was. There was a fairly pleasant young man serving but then he left at 8.15 pm and a mature woman took his place. I queried the prices and she begrudgingly took £1 off All in all a dismal experience. Not surprisingly the place had only six other diners when we arrived and by the time we left at 8.30 it was empty.
