The Manor Restaurant
Beach Rd, West Bexington, DorchesterIt's hard to explain how lovely this place is, with its terrace and gardens on a hill overlooking Chesil beach, but it really is very nice indeed to visit on a hot summer's day. It's not cheap, but the food is very good.

Cellar Bar @ The Manor House
Beach Rd, West Bexington, DorchesterAfter a long walk at the beach and the South Dorset hiking path we rested for a pint and some food. It was great! The sun went down, we were sitting outside and enjoyed the evening. We had a veggy burger and stroganoff. A very nice location. But some seat cushions would have been nice.Vegetarian options: Veggy burger was great.

The Purple Turtle
Litton Lakes, Litton Ln, DorchesterWe stumbled upon this place on their first day of opening for the season. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Mediterranean chicken toasties and coffees, which were all amazing. Views of the lake were beautiful. Would highly recommend, and would definitely come back again.

The Crown Inn
Church St, Puncknowle, DorchesterPopular juicer on a Sunday - lots of diners. Several, separate bars including pool table. Well kept beer. Pleasant staff. Well worth a try. You'll soon find out if the visitors are local - ask them how to pronounce the village name - dead giveaway!

Eggcup Tearooms
26 B3157, DorchesterFantastic Tearoom offering gluten and dairy free options, which is a brilliant find. I was told that the sausages were not gluten free, due to the seasoning. As it's only an intolerance I decided to have them and be bloated, and I'm so glad I did. They are their own sausages and they are delicious. The gluten free bread stood up to the heat for about 2/3rds of the sandwich, usually it crumbles as soon as you lift it. We will definitely visit again.

The Parlour Café & Restaurant
Bredy Farm Bredy Lane, BridportThe whole place has a lovely feel to it, friendly staff. I went there at lunchtime to check it out for an evening meal with my partner, so only wanted a coffee and sandwich. Chatting with the chef he offered to make a sandwich (not on the menu), but I opted for a calzone (also not on the menu). It was just what I wanted, and the coffee was great too!
