Came to the Crown from neighbouring Middleton-in-Tees after having read in our welcome pack at the holiday cottage that they do a good roast, they were not wrong! I had the chicken and my partner had the multi meat option. All meats cooked perfectly! The flavours were lovely, and there was just enough of everything, we went away full. Definitely be interested to see what their Friday and Saturday menus are like.Dog friendly too which was an added bonus.

We celebrated my husbands birthday here with friends. Started with a hike around the local area (which is so beautiful) then food and drinks at The Crown. The staff are so helpful and welcoming. Food is just amazing and the laid back atmosphere is perfect. Would highly recommend this place for couples and families. Thank you, we’ll be back.

We visited here a couple of times while we were staying in the village. We had an evening meal on the Saturday night and returned for Sunday lunch the following day. The food was delicious both times, we couldn't fault it. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The bar manager was very accomodating and found us a table with space for our pram both times. They have a lovely beer garden which we enjoyed during the sunny weather. Lovely atmosphere we would highly recommend and would love to return.
We’ve just had Sunday lunch at the Crown pub. We received a very warm welcome and we were shown to a table and given menu sheets ( but not explained that we needed to order at the bar) I ordered the chicken when it arrived I ate some and it tasted bland and had a weird texture. Not pleasant. When I went to the bar to ask the staff about how the chicken had been cooked they said it had been cooked in a bath of water. I could not eat it due to the texture so they kindly offered to change it and so I ordered beef. However, when the beef came, I was very disappointed. It was very very fatty with lots of sinew not very nice beef we parcelled it up and took home for the dog. The Yorkshire puddings and the rest of the vegetables were okay. Now for afters we ordered desserts and were surprised when they came in cardboard tubs - Very novel maybe they had run out of dishes or maybe to save on washing up.

We came from South Shields for a day out to high force and thought we’d grab some food on the way home. Looked for somewhere local on Google to stop by and thought we’d give this place a go as it looked promising. Not disappointed, Beautiful food and very welcoming. Some of the best pub food we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely recommend this to anyone passing through and we will 100% be coming back next time. Thanks again ?
