What a lovely evening we had for my sisters 60th birthday.Quite a large party which was catered for without question with stunning food and service with a smile...a massive thank you to all the team ??????

A great place with really tasty food.Lovely service and atmosphere. The a la carte is very comprehensive (the oysters are really good) and can be a bit pricey, depending on what you have. However the lunch menu is sensibly priced and has a good selection of items.Overall a very good choice for us as we were celebrating a special birthday.

Went for Mother's Day sunday lunch. As ever, the food was top notch and the service impeccable. They'd ramped up the prices compared to an ordinary Sunday but, even so, it was well worth it.Dietary restrictions: Though there isn't a dedicated gluten-free menu the kitchen is always happy to adjust dishes where necessary to accommodate my son's wheat allergy.

Never had a bad dish here. The bar staff and manager are very easy to get on with and will help you as best as they can.Great local pub and they do a good midweek menu at a very reasonable price.Sunday lunches are also crackin.

The best pub restaurant in the North East by far. We always have a great meal and travel from Durham to visit. If this place was closer, I would become a regular. The fish pancake in Thermidor sauce is delightful, such that I dare not try anything else as a starter! I always get my partner to try others as she doesn’t like fish, which is handy. The mains choice is great, you can try pigeon, rabbit, venison and a choice of fish and veggie dishes as well as Beef, chicken and Pork usually on the menu. There is a fillet option, which is superb, and a favourite of ours. All the mains come with homemade ketchups, unusual vegetables presented so precisely that your plate demands a photo. Staff are attentive, decor is refined and food …..to die for. Open another restaurant close to Durham please and I’ll be your regular. Thanks

Very disappointed. Waited about 30 minutes for warm food , when it arrived it was chewy and tough. Very over priced. Used to dine here regularly, never again. We ordered the venison and cod dishes. Didn’t stop for the pudding. The staff were very nice.
