Aviation Way, DarlingtonThai Terminal 1 is a hidden gem. A new favourite for me. Sparkling atmosphere, absolutely tremendous food, soooo fresh and tasty, cooked from scratch by the Thai chef, great front of house staff.

The food was outstanding. Each dish features fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavour. What truly made the evening special was the exceptional professionalism of the staff. They were attentive, well-informed about the menu, and genuinely passionate about providing excellent service. Their knowledge and guidance made us feel well cared for and informed throughout the evening.
It was a great meal in a beautiful setting. 10 out of ten!

Sometimes a bit too much service or we've been asked to move to other table, because a table was booked but then after 5 mins we've been told we're ok to stay.. probably because they've noticed our unhappy faces. Sometimes we're being asked if we are ok for drinks by every single waitress and in total that's happen every 2 mins... but anyway, we're still going there because we just like that place!

20 Grange Rd, DarlingtonSalt is absolutely marvellous. It's hard to describe the vibe of the menu, but you'd probably say "elevated street food". They have offering from around the globe, my usual favourite being the tacos ofcourse :)
Portions can be a little small for the price, but the quality is undeniable, proven in the taste!
The building itself is spectacular, with the full aspect front window, and the large mezzanine level, which gave an almost private-dining experience.
Drinks/cocktail menu was small but provided exactly what you'd expect and need. Off menu offerings were also catered to.
Oh, and there's a swing seat in the ante-room.
A perfect venue for something a little more unique, in a town almost plagued with average establishments.

Prior to this we had gone off curry as recent places we had ordered from, all tasted the same and fairly bland. Not here though. All meals were excellent again tonight with real flavour. Friendly & excellent service to boot. Highly recommended, looking forward to my next one!

The food is really, really good. We felt comfortable, had an excellent meal and overall had a very nice evening at TAO.
Today we're going there again and trying out more delicious dishes - even though we're only spending five days in Darlington and actually wanted to visit other restaurants.
Sorry about the half-eaten pictures. We were hungry and when we realized how delicious the food was, we quickly took some pictures. So the portions are much larger. :-)
EDIT: At this point I would like to apologize to all the other restaurant operators in Darlington, but this is our third evening here.
When we come home and someone asks us what Darlington was like, we reply: "Yummy!".

The food was well presented when it came out. Unfortunately, the steak was the worst I have ever experienced. I could not chew it at all as it was so full of grissle. The steak was cooked perfectly, it was very tasty, but all except 3 mouthfuls were impossible to chew and had to be deposited out of my mouth on to the plate. Had anyone come to check if our meal was ok, I would have complained, but as we were not given any attention once the meal was paid for and served, we were not given the opportunity. It’s a shame as it looks a lovely place and the staff were very nice whilst they were interacting with us. Hopefully if we go again, we will get a better quality of steak.

The only issue is the fan is very loud (so it is hard to hear what the people at the front desk are saying) and the room doesn't have much ventilation (and is fairly warm due to the pizzas being cooked).

Food was quickly served (was eating alone on my visit) I had pate starter, and Pollo Diane with Med rice for main. Superb would sum it up. Ive never had a better Diane sauce in 20 odd years! Staff very friendly, check on everything around and not standing chatting. Highly recommend this Gem. Thankyou. Heading home back to North Wales I will remember this place.

Sol Tapas Spanish Restaurant
28 Duke St, DarlingtonRecently booked the private dining room for a family meal after my Mother’s funeral. We ordered the set Tapas menu at £25 per head. Initially we were worried there wouldn’t be enough food so we added some bread baskets on - that was a big mistake - there was so much food! We were all stuffed and then they brought out further dishes of paella! We couldn’t fit it all in! The slow braised beef in Rioja and the Chicken Diane were particularly popular dishes. The croquettes of the day were sublime and properly cooked with béchamel rather than mashed potato. They even offered to wrap it all up for us to take home. I’d also recommend their house Tempranillo, really reasonably priced for a restaurant and delicious! Service was polite and professional and appropriately paced. Really thankful to the team for making our family meal so lovely on such an important day.

4 Farrer St, DarlingtonBest place for a curry in Darlington. The small things really matter, I collected my order and couldn’t help but notice how clean it was outside the shop, the side alley was spotless, which tells me they really care about their business and the community.
Inside the shop it’s very clean and the aroma of the spices and dishes they’re preparing in the kitchen are just incredible.
The lamb is so tender and the gravy is very rich, and delicious. The daal was perfect, soft and seasoned to perfection. Garlic naan, Cheese naan fresh and soft all the way through. They gave us popadoms and dips, which was a nice touch. Everything was pipping hot, and the containers filled to the brim.
Lovely meal, will be returning, and highly recommended to others. Enjoy!

Long menu with choices ranging from paninis to an all day breakfast (See photograph) to enormous pizzas and main dishes. Prices varied from reasonable to expensive. The child's portion was enormous! We were disappointed to be charged £1.50 for three portions of tomato ketchup! The food was all tasty and we took a pizza box of leftovers for later.

Darlington Retail Park, Yarm Rd, DarlingtonFirst time ever eating in at a KFC and it was great. The service was super quick the staff were friendly and the food is yummy. Although I don't eat chicken on the bone KFC now has lots of boneless options to choose from. I highly recommend the £2.99 snack box.
Now onto the things I didn't like, firstly there is no music in the restaurant so it made it feel quite unwelcoming and quiet. I ordered via the app which took ages to setup before I could do my first order, then I actually won two hot chicken wings. I tried to order via the app, but it wouldn't let me just order the wings I had to spend at least 99p, so I decided to try the screens in the restaurant, this time it wouldn't let me use the code unless made any order. I finally went to the counter and the guy on the counter was excellent, put the order through and brought it to the table, excellent service. Shame about the app.

Darlington College, Haughton Road, DarlingtonDropped in today for lunch and what a surprise. Greeted at the door by the manageress and shown to our table. Menus presented..choice of four starters,four mains and four deserts.Bit limited for choice but still very acceptable given three courses priced at only £ 10 ! Young students took the orders and served the meals….got to say they were all proficient and very friendly although a few nerves could only be expected. Onto the food …Prawn cocktails ( tasty ) Haddock, beef dripping chips, mashed minted peas,and tartare sauce ( best we’ve had anywhere ! ) ..sticky toffee pudding ( ok ) Excellent large glass of blush rose wine £ 4.50. What amazing value. Restaurant was very quiet probably due to the stormy weather but I got the distinct impression that despite the excellent operational side the restaurant would ,without doubt, increase its business exponentially if only the college invested in a programme of marketing.Simple things like a large sign on the busy main road advertising the restaurant.Once visited word of mouth would fill the place. Going back on Thursday for the “Burns” Lunch. Well done to all the managerial staff and the friendly nervous students. Brill

The ambience sets the stage for a perfect evening, and the decor strikes a harmonious balance between elegance and comfort.
The food was outstanding. Each dish features fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavour. What truly made the evening special was the exceptional professionalism of the staff. They were attentive, well-informed about the menu, and genuinely passionate about providing excellent service. Their knowledge and guidance made us feel well cared for and informed throughout the evening.
It was a great meal in a beautiful setting. 10 out of ten!

Sometimes a bit too much service or we've been asked to move to other table, because a table was booked but then after 5 mins we've been told we're ok to stay.. probably because they've noticed our unhappy faces. Sometimes we're being asked if we are ok for drinks by every single waitress and in total that's happen every 2 mins... but anyway, we're still going there because we just like that place!

20 Grange Rd, DarlingtonSalt is absolutely marvellous. It's hard to describe the vibe of the menu, but you'd probably say "elevated street food". They have offering from around the globe, my usual favourite being the tacos ofcourse :)
Portions can be a little small for the price, but the quality is undeniable, proven in the taste!
The building itself is spectacular, with the full aspect front window, and the large mezzanine level, which gave an almost private-dining experience.
Drinks/cocktail menu was small but provided exactly what you'd expect and need. Off menu offerings were also catered to.
Oh, and there's a swing seat in the ante-room.
A perfect venue for something a little more unique, in a town almost plagued with average establishments.

Prior to this we had gone off curry as recent places we had ordered from, all tasted the same and fairly bland. Not here though. All meals were excellent again tonight with real flavour. Friendly & excellent service to boot. Highly recommended, looking forward to my next one!

The food is really, really good. We felt comfortable, had an excellent meal and overall had a very nice evening at TAO.
Today we're going there again and trying out more delicious dishes - even though we're only spending five days in Darlington and actually wanted to visit other restaurants.
Sorry about the half-eaten pictures. We were hungry and when we realized how delicious the food was, we quickly took some pictures. So the portions are much larger. :-)
EDIT: At this point I would like to apologize to all the other restaurant operators in Darlington, but this is our third evening here.
When we come home and someone asks us what Darlington was like, we reply: "Yummy!".

John Fowler Way, DarlingtonWent here for the first time today (ladies what lunch) the surroundings and atmosphere were lovely. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was well presented when it came out. Unfortunately, the steak was the worst I have ever experienced. I could not chew it at all as it was so full of grissle. The steak was cooked perfectly, it was very tasty, but all except 3 mouthfuls were impossible to chew and had to be deposited out of my mouth on to the plate. Had anyone come to check if our meal was ok, I would have complained, but as we were not given any attention once the meal was paid for and served, we were not given the opportunity. It’s a shame as it looks a lovely place and the staff were very nice whilst they were interacting with us. Hopefully if we go again, we will get a better quality of steak.

1 Bartlett St, DarlingtonCame here a few weeks ago and the staff were really nice, politely letting us know haddock is smaller which did know but good to make people aware incase they aren't and they gave us an extra chunk aswell as the main fillet maybe because the haddock was extra small or just because we were obviously sharing but it was just really sweet. Everything tasted really good. Would definitely return.Tiny bit small so a bit of a squeeze especially when people decide to sit on the waiting bench to eat their meal as standing infront of them is awkward but otherwise you're in the way of the door but can't be helped not shops fault, would just recommend only sending one person in if possible and not trying to eat in.
