Welcomed by a real fire and friendly helpful staff; just what we needed on a cold winters night. Lovely atmosphere, with covered outdoor area too. We chose items from their market menu. Before our starter arrived we were served with their lovely crafted breads, blended butter and olive oil spread. The three courses from our menu were just enough for us. As the designated driver I had one glass of a remarkable Italian red wine, Cabaletta Rosso delle Venezie Tenuto Fiorebelli (so deliciously pleasant was this wine, it is on my shopping list for Xmas pressies). Wow, this was so much better than I expected. We were staying at nearby Rockcliffe Hall and drove in to Hurworth for dinner. Was blown away by how beautiful this pub was, and how great the food was. Went in early and had a drink and chatted to the locals who were extremely friendly. Went and had dinner, we both had beef Wellington, which was excellent. The service was top-notch, and I would thoroughly recommend. What a little gem!
