Food never cameAbsolutely shocking , ordered waited 1hr and 45 mins had to ask where food was , part of order came as we where all walking out,During the wait no communication from staff , had to ask for some crackers to tide us over , gave us some prepacked crackers , never received update on the food.,Female toilets need a light outside as you can not see the raised step to which one of us tripped , mind the step sign should be higher on eye level .The place was not busy atbh no the wonder , waitress had said on way out that yes it's normal to wait a long time , if we knew that we wouldn't of booked or booked amd ordered at 2pm to have it in time .Wouldnt recommend or go backShame as its such a beautiful place in gorgeous surroundings.

Booked a table for Friday Twixmas. On arrival straight to table snd menus given. Drinks order delivered quickly. Order placed for dinner. Very polite young waiter and waitress attended our table. The starters were very nice good spice to the fish cakes, nice veg spring rolls. Asked when we were ready for main course. A very tasty creamy curry and chicken noodle spicy plate. Nice coconut rice. Bill arrived very promptly when I asked for it. Good value for meals and drinks. We will return.

We ordered a noodle dish, which was Fettuccine pasta and not noodles. This was very tasteless. The duck spring rolls were really greasy and the chips were frozen crinkle cut I am writing this review in the hope Mary Rowntrees take the feedback on board to improve their service as this lovely place has so much potential. The staff are really friendly and it’s a lovely restaurant, with great atmosphere in a beautiful location. If we see future good reviews we will hopefully visit again but for now, our last experience has put us off.

We have visited here on a regular basis since it re opened and have always found it very pleasant but it has gone down recently. It is lovely place with very pleasant staff but I am afraid this will be our last visit. It takes for ever to get your food after you have ordered it but the worst thing for us recently has been the number of dogs they allow in with no control. today was like eating in some kennels with dogs continually barking and owners allowing them to rest their heads on the tables and bother people on tables near them. I am a dog lover, but in the right place and for me a restaurant is not the place. Some of my friends have stopped visiting and I can see why now. What a pity because it could be so nice.

Very disappointing. The restaurant was very cold with no heating on. We waited 45 minutes for our Thai food which was served on cold plates. We also waited a long time for our hot drinks. Other diners seemed to be being dealt with more quickly. There was only 4 of us. We should have left and gone elsewhere. I doubt that we will be back.

Great location & very clean . Foods are not very authentic taste of Thai Foods .over priced. Nice location. Need more comfortable seating .

I love curry and this was excellent. Limited choice for others if not into currys ......but having said that the family had excellent sandwiches and there are a few dishes like omelettes available. The decor and ambiance are excellent (converted chapel) and the service was good. Busy for mid week so obviously popular and, together with the curry, helped us to get warm. Unfortunately no zero beer/ lager available which is always a great shame in todays market.

If you live or are visiting the North East, you must visit this fabulous restaurant. We visited in September 2023, staying on the Headland,I couldn't believe the interior! It's stunning, with a beautiful bar and seating overlooking the sea, awesome pink and gold sofas, in the eaves of this once churchAt the time we went, it's only open to dine in the evening, Thursday to Sunday, and so worth it, food is lovely, atmosphere, and staff fantasticI believe it's also open for breakfast lunch and takeaway. Please go and support this beautiful restaurantThe best in Hartlepool.❤️Wheelchair accessibility: There's a lift for wheelchairs to the open plan restaurant

A large group of us went for birthday celebrations, the food was amazing! It tasted so fresh with quality ingredients, there was no scrimping on the portion sizes and I felt like I had excellent value for money. All of the staff were super friendly, efficient and attentive without being overbearing. All in all a great experience and a hidden little gem.

Didn’t realise this place was open again but it was absolutely fantastic. Service was very friendly and really accommodating to a little one. After ordering a bottle of fizz that was a little on the warm side, they brought us out mini fizz bottles perfectly chilled and complementary. Food was absolutely delicious, really fresh and tasty, massaman curries were all round favourites.Dietary restrictions: One of our party had a seafood allergy and everything was explained very well and a tasty pad Thai was devoured.

Incredible, authentic Thai food with friendly and helpful staff. If you like Thai food, you will love this place. It is in a stunning location on the Headland. Would 100% recommend and we will be back soon!

A gorgeous café in terms location/ interiors and the vegan breakfast was ok, just lacked a bit of imagination!

Was on a visit to my home town. So pleased to see Mary Rowntree’s was open again. Just dropped in for a coffee but when I saw the menu I couldn’t resist trying the food. It was delicious, the service was good and the surroundings charming. It was so good I went back again, for dinner, later in the week.

Happenstance, happily. This place is really a gem. Found by accident, but we'll be back. Bang on the front, views from the table over the harbour. Young staff, all pleasant and helpful. Thai food fresh, tasty and superb . And it won't break the bank. Deffo a re visit
