Have had many fabulous meals at this lovely homely pub, but on this occasion, it was Christmas Dinner. Well prepared, good service, friendly atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning.Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: Coeliac needs catered for.Parking: Small rear car park but street parking also available.Wheelchair accessibility: The pub is all on one level.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We ordered one mince and Dumplings and two Lamb Shank meals. A small 4 inch plate of veg came to the table consisting of 2 pieces of broccoli, 2 of cauliflower and a tablespoon of turnip. I asked if this was one portion of veg and was told No that is for all three of you. My husbands meal of mince arrived and we were impressed with the meal. I asked if we could have more veg as we were three adults who enjoy our greens. A further ten minutes passed and the two meals of Lamb arrived. My sister cut into hers and noted there was no steam from the inside and her shank was very cold in the middle. I checked mine and it was warm on the outside but freezing in the middle. We called for the waitress who used her finger to test the temperature of the shank. She agreed And immediately apologised. We said we did not want replacements and changed our choice to mince and dumplings. About 3 minutes later the waitress came back with the lamb shanks. We reiterated that we did not want to risk the lamb as every bodies fingers had been on it testing the temperature. The waitress again apologised and took the meals back to the chef. Almost immediately a small person dressed in a dirty black apron over chefs uniform. She held the plates up high and said she had dealt with the issue and these were now fit to eat. I asked her if the shanks had been reheated in a microwave, she said yes they had and what of it? I pointed out that peoples fingers had been in my meal and I did not want to eat it. My sister again said we would have mince as an alternative to which she replied “you can’t have mince as I make it to order, in fact forget it and just leave” we tried to reason with her but she accused me of having been in her pub before and having an agenda. At which my husband who had just been discharged from hospital with a serious heart complaint, tried to defend me and said we have never eaten here before. At which she replied “ just leave , get out and don’t come back”. We have never been treated like this before in any restaurant. I an 65 years old and disabled, also my husband is 69 years old with a serious heart condition and my sister is 58 years old and was visiting from Edinburgh. We left the pub very upset and I was extremely confused at the chefs outburst and her aggressive manner. We will not be visiting this pub again and would advice any other elderly or disabled person not to waste there evening dinning at this venue.

Friday 17th March. We hadn't booked a table as all the other times at 5.30pm it was very quiet. The restaurant was completely empty.A woman was sitting at the far end.We asked for a table for 4, the woman who I assumed was the "waitress" asked if we had booked, then proceeded to inform us in a very agitated manner that a table of 10 people were coming in.The tables were not set, which she said was because a "load of lads had come in prior", but they would be set up. Her manner was begining to verge on aggression, she returned to her seat, so we just left. This woman is certainly not suited to the Hospitality Industry with that kind of attitude! The strange thing is, had we booked we would have "got in", despite the large party coming in......doesn't make sense to me.Shame a restaurant is unable to accommodate for more than 10 people.

Bar Manager is incredibly rude! My in laws have been visiting this venue weekly for almost a year, I have joined them on many occasions. Today when my mother in law wanted to cancel a couple of people off as my sister is now working Christmas Day ( she’s a nurse! ) the bar manager got incredibly rude and aggressive towards her. Called her a very rude offensive name! And told her to get out of her pub! If you can call ahead and see what day she’s working I’d avoid them days! Ruins a lovely little place!

Food was really nice and loads of it. We had Sunday roast, and it was very nice, except roasted potato which I think were reheated in a microwave. Small selection of beer but there is something for everyone.
