I have been eating at Newick Tandoori for 30 years and it remains the best food and service; a lovely restaurant, still run by the same lovely family owners. It is not cheap, but that is because they always use top quality ingredients and produce many original seasonal special dishes worth a try.

I have used Newick Tandoori for takeaway lots of times but the last time I dined in was around 10years ago, tonight we went to celebrate my nephews 18th birthday. We all had to pre order and pay a deposit due to there being 28 people, we explained when we booked that we had young children and a couple with disabilities one of which would not be eating. We sent our pre orders that included lots of different side and we received a email back complaining that we hadn’t ordered enough main meals per head and there would be a charge for anyone not eating, I called straight away to again explain when I booked i had explained this and I was told they could cater for this, we had two under 5 and a 2 ten year olds that would not eat adult portions. The manager was not overly impressed but said he would honour the booking. I felt this was very poor considering that most people ordered 2 sides so it was not like we were taking the mick. Anyway we hoped that would be the end of the saga but unfortunately not. Half way through serving everyone the manager lost his temper with the staff for no apparent reason sent them away and walked away saying serve yourself, I was happy to tbh as by this time most people had nearly finished their meals while the others didn’t even have their food and it was quicker. Most food was at best barely warm but by the time I had sat down mine was cold. Not one of us complained as we were there for my nephew and that was the most important thing. Then it came to payments, prior to coming to the restaurant we had worked out the price of the whole table and checked it several times, well it was a up-to date menu but seamed to come to more and then they hit us with a 10% service charge which is no where on the menu and we had to serve ourselves and provided a better service. I will never order from there again and recommend that you avoid as the owner is rude and abusive to his staff and then they add on imaginary money on his calculator not a itemised till. Who knows what we were paying for as everyone ordered and payed for their drinks at the bar.Dietary restrictions: Very poorKid-friendliness: Very poor

Disc *+* Please don't take this " not exactly overly complimentary " review as the experience of a bitter customer....but ...Excitedly arrived expecting a tasty dinner for one, only to be joined by a dear friend, when wasn't 100% sure he was even joining me for a drink at 2030 on a wed evening....so far, so good..they let him in, he sat down and was served a drink... I offered some poppadoms as its nice to share, my main course arrived, lots of tasty looking food and I asked for a surprise veggie dish the chef enjoyed cooking..plus saag paneer, rice and plain naan ( std three piece Indian necessaries for moi yum )Within a couple of mins that my friend was enjoying a bit of shared food, the manager stormed over to my table, saying I was really out of order deceiving him by allowing my friend to eat etc and made me feel very uncomfortable. It never crossed my mind for one sec that was a problem in itself.. and as they did ask him if was having a meal upon arrival which he hadn't planned to have, just a drink and they seemed cool with that. They also weren't happy he used the poppadom serving plate to nibble from.Maybe it was the bit of naan bread i forced on him that crossed line with management...but he wasnt a happy man observing this culinary crimeThis really kinda tainted the experience and felt slightly aggrieved to pay an extra fiver for him to eat, on top of quite a high bill. Its all experiences and what happened wont endear me to come rushing back, but had a nice chat with manager to apologise and explain i didnt even realise i was in the wrong or wanted to offend, and thanked chef too.Great bike security though, forgot bike lock key and they looked after it whilst i ate.I really had high hopes but hey ho nice people though and wouldnt say never ever go againJust an honest reviewThanks

Having been to this restaurant several times before, and always enjoyed our meal, we were looking forward for our visit.Table for 8 people to celebrate my daughters birthday 25/8/23 (only 7 eating)Food lukewarm, side dishes very bland, chicken overcooked and dry.4 of us had chicken tikka based food, all four of us experienced diarrhoea & 2 also vomiting, within 2 hours of eating.Manager contacted this morning, he showed no empathy at all, just kept shouting over me, saying see a Dr & prove it was my food.We will definitely NEVER return.

Came last night for our daughters birthday, food was bland and cold services was OK, within 4 hours 5 of us have been vomiting with diarrhoea, phoned and spoke to the manager and all I can say is what a rude horrible man shouting at me saying prove it was my food,so sadly it's a big avoid ,very disappointedParking: Ok

Nice food cooked quickly. Veg dishes all felt fresh and simple in a good way, really appreciated the little freebie we got as well. Online ordering system worked well. Would come back!Vegetarian options: Very good.

Really disappointed!Have been very keen to try for a while now & heard good things but the sauce honestly had no flavour.Ordered a Balti & it was so bland with no spice at all.Onion Bhajis - nothing special, have tasted a lot better.Spent £30 for 2 currys, 1 pilau rice and onion bhajis. Expected something special for the price.Shame - Won’t be ordering again.

Corrr that was a hectic 36hrs, ever since the troup arranged a catch up at the NT i havent slept. "NT??.. sign me up boys!!" Followed bt the ONLY logical question "Nymans or sheffield park?!" Turns out they meant the other NT, Newick Tandoori. Stayed up Tuesday night familiarising myself with the menu and pricing but this time decided to resist the normally irresistable urge to google street view the establishment, or to do a drive by stopping off to establish local opinion on the establishment and peek inside, which ive established i like to do. So the question remained until i was merely a few feet away from the door. Was this tandoori the type which sells ice cream out of a toy penguin OR alternatively was this going to be a mid noughties renovation, with chrome and glass everywhere and a dishevelled laminate floor on view.. not to mention chairs with at least 1 of 4 legs a bit too loose.. (if so ive bought the allen key so not such an issue). Will keep the alllen key secret this time as ive done a whole restaurant before, got 50% off the meal but didnt get home until gone 3am and the wrist gave me hell the next morning, what with all the righty tighty. Talking of which, the bill. Well i may as well have gotten the allen key out because at the risk of sounding right tight, i was gobsmacked at an avg cost per head of £28.34 + service !! Could get that down to £14.17 if needs be, but rather pay full whack and get home for a crunch corner & with my wrist in tact. Facilities ranking - 8/10. I didnt go for a wee, or anything heavier.. but as i was in the toilets on handwash 2 of 3 (between poppadom courses), i took a little peak inside the cubicle and as suspected.. Kimberley Clark, so you can rest assured theyll flush as good as any. Would i head back? Id have to have a screw loose to say no.

After a very busy weekend the restaurant was empty. As a result we were able to chat to staff about Bangladesh and south India which we had both visited. Staff were extremely attentive and did every thing to make the meal memorable in the best way.

Great restaurant food was amazing and possibly the best mint sauce I've had with poppadoms. Have tried a takeaway and also sat in the restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

I have visited this place four times in the last month. Its always empty when we go. The first time they sat us at the back by the toilet, worst table in the restaurant and why when it's empty from the start of our meal to the finish?! They cant raise a smile between them, no friendly hello.. and the food - its so below average. Meat swimming in bland sauce. I ordered the Prawn bouna, which tasted of nothing, I actually had to add a lot of salt, just to raise some flavour. It was so bland with no spice at all. The prices are also extortionate, £25 a head for a basic curry with a shared rice and naan. We have given it a good go with three visits in a month, but we won't waste our time with another visit. I get the distinct feeling that it is relying on its strong reputation. What a shame and an insult.
