Our first stay but definitely not our last. The location was perfect for us visiting friends and family in the area, something we do a couple of times a year since moving away. Originally booked as we were attending a family big birthday meal in The Oak and this meant we could enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two! Rooms are spotless and well equipped for a short stay. Bonus is you can book for just one night and that some rooms are dog friendly which was perfect for our needs. Communication was excellent. Looking forward to our next stay!

Couldn't fault rooms thought the breakfast was over priced at £15 a head for full English

This was our third stay at the B&B (3 families with kids and dogs) and although management had changed the experience was just as great as the previous visits. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful and our host Ed was friendly and very helpful. The Oak offered good food and live music one of the nights we were there. Well situated close to Rye and superb beaches. Highly recommended. P.s. thank you for sending my pyjamas bottoms back to me - very thoughtful and kind! X

I really loved this place, reminded me of being in a motel but so much better. The bed was very comfortable, clean all around and quiet. You'll find a little fridge, kettle, tea and coffee etc.The host Ed was very accomodating and friendly. You can tell he put so much effort and time into the place.Would definitely recommend. We stayed for a night but we will come back to stay again. It is handy to have a car as the place is a little bit outside of Rye. By car it is like 5 minutes and by walk I'd say about an hour. The Oak pub was also great, they have delicious food in the evening. We also had lovely breakfast there.

When we arrived there had been a water issue and the staff made sure that we had bottled water in our room ready, this issue didn't continue but it was reassuring to know they would set this up for us. We were also able to get a meal at the pub even though they weren't serving outside and were fully booked inside, they kindly let us have a salad and water so we didn't starve. I also left my shoes and they posted them to me free of charge.

So pleased to have found The Great Escape - perfect location, great facilities in the rooms, very clean and Ed could not have been more helpful. The staff in the pub next door were so friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us and served the most delicious breakfast! Would thoroughly recommend The Great Escape and would definitely stay again! Thank you ?

I didn't know what to expect. Was it going to be a bit run-down and basic? Opening the door was a lovely surprise. It was bright and airy, modern furnishings, plenty of storage space and a lovely bathroom with shower. The beds were very comfortable (twin room) and although there is a pub across the car park and a busy road nearby the noise was minimal and didn't have an effect on sleeping. I'm a light sleeper so that was good news. To top it all off there was a fridge in the room and even had a welcoming jug of milk inside. The manager was keen for people to be happy and was very positive when I pointed out that the bathroom mirror was too high for a little'un like me. That was a good, positive reaction which I was impressed with. There are also 2 chairs and a table outside and we could sit in the sun. It was lovely being on the edge of a village in the country and I felt really settled. Would have loved to stay longer.

When faced with having to find alternative accommodation at short notice over the Easter Weekend because our hotel in Rye had not received our booking, The Great Escape came to our rescue and saved the day. Ed and the team keep very clean rooms, are very friendly and have a can-do attitude. The breakfast at the Oak Pub was generous and overall our stay was very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Just back today after a 3 night stay. Cannot fault this place! The cozy chalets were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond. We forgot our travel ironing board and the owner only had an industrial one so she offered to iron what was needed! (We declined but the offer was most generous) The lady who served us breakfast every day was an absolute delight, so cheerful and made us feel really welcome. Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had! Cooked to order with a lovely big pot of tea not to mention the selection of cereals, fresh pastries and juices. Will definitely visit again.

We've just got back from a weekend break away with 3 toddlers and 2 other couples. The rooms were lovely and big enough to fit a travel cot. The fridge was handy for the children's milk! Carmen was friendly and very accommodating!! We ate at the pub on both nights, the food was amazing! On the second night, the babies fell asleep early so the pub kindly served our dinner to us outside our rooms which was so kind of them! Breakfast on both mornings was delicious - the warm crossiants were a nice treat before the full English! Would highly recommend and we will certainly be back again!!
