Whilst always on the lookout for a homemade Sunday roast, we looked at a variety of places to stop in at on our return to Bury St Edmunds after a visit to Braintree. The Hare & Hounds is ideally situated off the main road with a good sized car park, large garden and nice bar / restaurant area, in addition to being dog friendly!A pool table was also available and proved popular. We had 4 roast dinners, 1 lamb, 1 pork and 2 duos (Pork & Lamb). Sadly we couldn't visit until late afternoon so the beef had gone by that stage. Great portion sizes for all at a reasonable price.Well worth a visit and highly recommend

Post funeral buffet for 30 people well-catered for by helpful staff. We had the whole bar to ourselves and it suited the occasion very well. Good value too.

Probably the most welcoming publican I have had the pleasure of meeting in a long while. A table for nine with six different choices of main meal ordered and all agreed that their food was excellent. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble.

My father was recommended this pub for a short notice wake for my uncle's funeral. Wheelchair access was poor. Only instant coffee available, and all a bit grubby.

Our food was delicious. Our bowls of tagliatelle were huge and very tasty. My husband said his steak was one of the best he’s ever had. Good value and good service and the food was nice and hot.

It was ok. The waitress/cleaner who served us was very friendly. Couldn't get a coffee as they'd run out. No alcohol free drinks at they had run out. When we went to pay at the bar, the manager acknowledged we were there, but was busy at the pool table.Food & drinks: Run out of fish and chips. I had ribs, but not really sure where the meat was. 2 medium rare steaks ordered, but they were more medium to well as there was no pink. There were 6 offered, but nobody came back to take our order.

Come here for some live music twice over the last two weeks and a bite to eat, it turnt into my local pub now! It’s child friendly with a good playground for 3+ a friendly service with a team that can’t do enough for their customers. And generally a really good vibe. Spoke to the lady at the bar that said it’s under new management and although some changes and refurbishments are under way. It’s a pub I see going in the right direction! I look forward to the future of the last two weeks is anything to go by!Food & drinks: Good variety of drinks. Especially gins!

Was meeting a friend for Sunday lunch and had the pleasure of choosing the Hare and Hounds to attend. The place is under new management and what pleasant management that is. From entry very friendly staff getting drinks and throughout the meal. There is a large dining area indoors and a very large area outside. We had the Sunday roast and it was plentiful and delicious. Can highly recommend this place.
