Shocked and disgusted by this restaurant... The portion size was shocking for the amount paid and the staff did not care...Food is below average and customer service falls far below that also.

I am absolutely appaled by the customer service of this establishment as well as the portion sizes if i could leave 0 stars i absolutely would. I ordered 3 meals and a side dish, when they arrived they were cold and dry and the mixed shish combination portion was horrendous... £16 for 4 pieces of meat... i contacted the establishment to query on the size and temperature and was laughed at and informed that no one else has ever complained. I asked if there was anything that we could do as the portion etc was inadequate, again I was laughed at and informed that they would do nothing as they were the cheapest establishment for the portion sizes in the area - a statement that could no be more falsified and they were going to hang up. I explained that was unprofessional and I will be complaining and they then proceeded to hang up. I would not recommend this establishment and will be promoting other establishments in its place. Disappointing experience to say the least.*Response to owner*I find your response disappointing you have completely ignored the conduct of your staff members and instead of resolving any of the complaints you have blamed others and made childish accusations.I highly doubt my deliveroo driver opened up my meal to remove one piece of meat. Also even with one extra piece of meat was there that was not 300+ grams and definitely not the cheapest in the areas. The meat from all three dishes was dry which could not be blamed on the driver as I have seen at least five other reviewers claim the same without even searching.Instead of addressing the situation you have become defensive and immature. I have been reviewing establishments for years and will continue to inform people of experiences so that they don't make the same mistakes.

Went to this restaurant this evening. We were early and made very welcome,With my wife.We ordered pink fish eggs which was tasty and creamy which I can’t pronounce and Calamari with olives. It was great. The Turkish beer was great, we then had two types of lamb which I enjoyed but my wife thought it was a bit spicy,my fault I should have ordered something else. But it was very nice and would go again and would recommend it.A very nice restaurant.. I wish this place a happy future.

Enjoyed a really great meal here. The menu has so much choice and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and had amazing flavour.Great and friendly service too being made to feel very welcome. No hesitations going back.

I had a proper dinner with lamb ribs, some cold and hot mezes, a couple of beers. Paid £34 and worths every penny. You can taste the high quality ingrediants when you keep eating.

Incredible meal and service. Friendly owner who was more than happy to accommodate 6 of us for a walk in. 12% service charge is steep but this is explained before ordering your food and isn't just hidden and added on at the end. You get the quality you pay for in Hanci. - Will be back next time i'm in the area for certain.

My family and myself had dinner at The Hanci Restaurant on Tuesday evening. We ordered Baba Ganoush, Hummus and Halloumi & Mushrooms for starters. Chicken Shish and Ali Nazik for our main course. The food was both generous and delicious, we struggled to finish our dinners. We would like to extend our thanks to both Shenner and Arthur for making it such a memorable evening. We'll definitely be going back there again.

Joke of a restaurant. Booked table for Saturday 25 for 10.30 which they confirmed with an email.Arrived about 10.00 only to be told the kitchen was closed. I showed the manager his email and he responded by saying he called me to re book it for 8.00 ???. Upon checking my call list surprise surprise no phone call. Paid 40 pounds in a cab to get there for nothing. The manager was a proper idiot trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Never booking here again. Maybe they should learn how to run a restaurant first before opening one. Far better Turkish restaurants about.

A group of us visited this restaurant after our Turkish holiday was cancelled. The service was outstanding, very attentive through out the evening. The food....just amazing, lamb chops to die for and so many served up, but also all the little touches you have, the tea and coffee served with Turkish delight (if you have been to Turkey you will know what i mean), down to the cups you served them in. I have been to all the other Turkish Restaurants in Chelmsford, non come close to Hanci especially for its authenticity. Hands down the best in town!!

Thanks to Shener and your team for looking after the 17 of us this evening. Great communication beforehand, stylish restaurant, authentic food, beautifully presented, enough bread to sink a ship and really friendly servers. Catered for all our dietary requirements and made the whole process of ordering beforehand really easy. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend!

The food here is really top notch , tasty and very fresh . However the pricing is way off beam . Six pieces of baklava for eleven pounds is ridiculous. Such a shame as now my friends will not return to this place .

Nice restaurant and good food and wine. We had tarama sulata with warm bread as a shared starter and then Marinated lamb mince grilled on charcoal, wrapped in bread, tomato sauce, and a Chicken kebab. All well cooked and the chicken was nice and moist with a charcoal flavour. Wine was excellent and the whole thing reasonably priced. Service was lovely and we, and the table, were looked after throughout. No hurry, no rush, just nice to get back to eating out again so do go and try it
