“My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of holding our wedding reception at the Ship on 14 August 2025.

Andy, Sue, Carol and the team had been vital in helping us prepare for our special day.

Friendly, open, honest and professional are just a few words we’d use to describe our experience.

On the day itself, we and our guests were treated like royalty. We didn’t want for anything. Andy, Sue and the team worked tirelessly and were dedicated to making our day as special as possible - in which they succeeded. ?

The food was 10/10!
We opted for an informal affair with BBQ favourites, accompanied by fries, salad and sauces which our guests could help themselves to during the day. In the evening, homemade pizzas were an absolute hit with guests.
Both the day and evening food options catered for vegetarians and vegans.

The outdoor bar provided the perfect serving of all drinks throughout the whole day. Stocked up and poured to perfection. We and our guests were made to feel like VIPs.

The Ship has become a firm favourite with us and our guests. In Andy and Sue, we have found new friends. Thank you for making our day extra special!!”

Parking: Small car park at the pub, but you're lucky to get a space. Paid parking alternative nearby. But it's right between the city centre bus station and train station.

Kid-friendliness: It's not great for young kids, but my teenage grandchildren liked it!”
