I needed to stay here for most of the day after dropping my car off at a local garage and waiting for it to be ready for collection. Great food, great coffee, great staff, and I felt welcome all day.

Looking for the perfect ‘greasy spoon’ (it wasn’t greasy it was delicious lol) on our way home to the midlands from a gig last night (we over slept and missed the hotel breakfast). Stopped at 3 other cafes fist but they weren’t what we were looking for. This hit the spot. Next Colchester Dingus Khan gig we will definitely make this a stop on the way home. Great food and really lovely service.Wheelchair accessibility: I’m not a wheel chair user however the cafe is all on one level. Doors seemed wide and seating was removable to allow a wheelchair access, space between tables was good.

All the goodness of a small cafe - friendly staff, homemade-style food you can customize (within reason) and reasonably priced. We had omelettes for lunch, which were hearty and filling, so had to take home the dessert (cakes) to have later.

Popped in for a quick bite for lunch. Service couldn't have been better.Huge menu selection. We had a baguette and ciabatta - bread tasted very fresh and thick. Decent cup of tea and coffee.Basic on the inside but couldn't fault service, food quality or value for money.

I’ve visited and had deliveries from this establishment on several occasions, and have never been disappointed with the service. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with friendly and professional staff, the food is always cooked fresh ( so there maybe a slight wait, but is worth it ) but the food when it arrives is hot and plentiful and presented well … your spoilt for choice for what you’d want as there is a large varied selection to choose from …Today for example I sat in with a colleague and we both had the Mega Breakfast, and as always was really lovely.I would highly recommend and will continue to visit because of its superb service, very clean surroundings and great food.

RUDE RUDE RUDE - Customer service appalling!Please don't waste your money here. Today I ordered online and previously ordered on three occasions the brie, bacon & cranberry melt and twice added comments asking for a decent amount of bacon as previous orders have had very little despite paying for an extra rasher (which actually was only a couple of extra tiny squares cut up).When I placed my order today, I put in the comments asking for a decent amount of bacon as before it was just like eating a jam sandwich. Owner called me shortly afterwards to say she was there last time when my previous order came through and watched the server make it (poor girl). I replied and said I was amazed she remembered and said that there wasn't the extra bacon I had paid for. Because she was so rude, I kindly asked her to cancel my order.After the call, I popped over as I work next door and asked that she refunded me only for her to just go on about the bacon again. I let her know that her customer service was appalling and I won't be returning. I've been a customer there for 10 years and since the new ownership, I've seen it slowly go down hill.BTW, the staff here are lovely and are always welcoming and friendly, maybe the owners should take a leaf out of their book and also book onto some customer service training too!

Since Chef's was taken over and rebranded to Cafe Plus, the service has gone down hill. We used to order regularly, but since the change the service is not as good as it was. We were given a time of 10:00 - 10:15 am for delivery, but we had to call them just before 11:00 to find out where the delivery was. We were then advised it would be another 10 minutes. We eventually got our order an hour after the time we were supposed to have received it. They did not even call us to advise there would be a delay. This is not the first time for a late delivery from them.

Myself and 5 colleagues turned up at 10am, there was 4 people in front just ordered, plus 2 behind us so a total of 12 people in the cafeWe get to the till to be told there is a 25 minute wait, we'll its either look for somewhere else to go but we thought 25 minutes won't be too bad.Well the 25 minutes came and went, when finally asked at 40 minutes how much longer to wait they said the food is on its way.2 breakfasts came out then a good 5 minutes passed before anymore came out, I was nearly finished before we all had our food.The wait was certainly not worth it, the eggs are precooked and cut like rubber, tinned mushrooms, small tinned tomatoes which tasted horrible, the positive things was real bacon, good Hash browns.I will never return there especially if its busy as its a shambles when quiet and definitely don't recommend going there especially if your in a rushVegetarian options: There was 2 vegan options for breakfastParking: Good parking around cafe
