The food was lovely. A great selection. Small portions so we ordered a few dishes to share among our table. Particularly recommend the beef and chicken skewers, also the rendang. Also the spring rolls were delicious! We were all full by the end of our meal.
Gareth was an attentive and informative waiter and nothing was too much. Always had a smile on his face when attending our table and was very knowledgeable of the food menu as well as the wine selection. He made our night perfect. Also want to mention the other waiting staff such as the friendly bartender and the chap clearing the plates, they were polite and courteous and were quick to smile. A lovely evening was had by us and we will definitely be coming back

We came in for lunch and drinks as were visiting family and Yates was recommended to us by a family member. We had a really nice meal and drinks and the bar and seating was lovely and spacious.
We were served by Rosie who I believe was the manager, she was very knowledgeable about the drinks and recommended several options which we very much enjoyed ? She then checked several times that everything was ok and was just lovely….so friendly and personable. I have experienced mediocre service before elsewhere so it was just so refreshing to be served by someone like Rosie who obviously takes pride in what she does.
Meals were fresh and hot and it was just a really good and relaxing experience. We will definitely visit again when we come to Colchester and recommend you to friends and other family. Thanks so much.

The service was amazing, we had multiple allergies/intolerances and they were so patient and even provided a seperate gluten free menu and Soy sauce. Over the phone we were told they could do gluten free ramen, but sadly.this was not the case and this was a let down but thankfully there was more choice for the person who was gluten free.

The ramen for myself was not what I expected. Usually seafood ramen is in a light broth with delicate flavours. The seafood was browned and the broth was a chargrilled onion flavour. It really wasn't what I was expecting and there were no descriptions on the menu. It was also served with carrot and edame beans, the carrot was a strange choice and the edame beans I cannot eat. If I knew they were in there I would have asked for something different. No bok choi, seaweed or beansprouts. Nothing traditional.

The sushi was of a high quality, and good rice.

The drinks are limited, and the green tea is not brewed it is a teabag. I didn't get offered any refills despite it being "bottomless".

I wouldn't visit again with so much choice in Colchester of excellent traditional ramen, however with their clear allergen menu I would go again if I was with someone who needed it. I would opt for sushi though.

Went with 6 friends for our festive afternoon/night out together. We travelled from Ipswich by train and started off here for bottomless brunch, and what a great time we had, the staff couldn’t do enough for you even though it was busy. The food was great and the cocktails and Prosecco free flowing, you were never without a drink. We will definitely be returning with more of us hopefully as it was well worth the money.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. As we took our dog, we sat in the room where guests are allowed with their dogs. It was very cosy and although separate from the main bar area we didn't feel forgotten.

Went for breakfast and was pretty quiet for around 10:00am. We each had a coffee and Eggs Royal and eggs florentine. Coffee was nice and strong the waiter quick to take our order. Needless to say the food was very tasty and will definitely return to try some dinner as I heard the pasta dishes are supposed to be really nice.

We had the discovery menu, a succession of little dishes. They were finely prepared and very good. We really appreciated some surprising combination of flavors, and just to name one of them, my favourite, the beetroot with licorice was amazing. Although the entrance is situated on a non very good looking car park, once inside, you are in a warm and peaceful environment with nive welcoming people. We were there for our 5th wedding anniversary and there was a little card for us on yhe table signed by the staff, a lovely little touch that was the cherry on the cake. Definitely recommend !

I had a really nice moules marinière, my only note I would say is that the food was quite salty though. The sauce was very salty, and the chips came salted. Conveniently situated right next to J28 A12 northbound. Needed some breakfast so stopped off there. Plenty of parking, placed my order and only took a few minutes. Food was hot and coffee good.

If you were driving along the main road it would be easy to not notice the Abbey Arms, especially as the entrance faces the other way and I didn't see any classic pub signage hanging... Inside you will get served by friendly staff and have a large choice of drinks to choose from. There is a table to play at, and a large screen to watch the footy. I didn't think there was loads of seating inside, and to be fair if your having a quick pint, it probably doesn't matter. Whilst they have some benches outside, it is hard to ignore the busy road!

I used this Chip Shop weekly on a Thursday for a big work order. Billy on the till is fantastic. He is able to take the massive order and has never gotten it wrong so far ? The shop makes sure to prep for the lunch order we put in to make it quicker for us and the food is always pukka quality. Nindy's is an amazing fish and chip shop, and their sandwich/baguette bar is incredible also. It's definitely worth a visit if you're close by and fancy a bite to eat.

She was incredibly patient and took her time to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was incredible and was absolutely cooked in the most delicious way plus the service was incredibly fast too!

The place was so beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was so peaceful. They made my birthday so special!! They also gave me and my friends extra fruits and fortune cookies for free which I’m so thankful for!

Went to a quiz night. So much fun. The landlords were very welcoming. It's a proper local pub. Can't wait to find an excuse to go back. Didn't eat.

Lovely little chippy opposite a petrol station. Excellent wide menu to please most appetites, which includes desserts and even ice cream. The service was positive and helpful, especially commendable was the eagerness to rectify an error (on a VERY large order). There is even off street parking, which is quite unusual for a chippy. I can highly recommend this takeaway.

The food is amazing every time we go. The menu is varied s there's something for everyone. Try the tempura prawns, they are made to order and heavenly light. The Guy don beef is melt in the mouth and the sauce. Slow cooked pork starter was urmayzin.
It is a quiet, calm atmosphere and the service is friendly but discreet. Not tried everything on the menu yet but I'm sure we will.

We recently had my nana’s wake held here and the service and atmosphere was great, especially considering the occasion. The pub was kept very clean, the outdoor courtyard area was lovely and the drinks were very reasonably priced! Pub goers were locals and all very friendly, good mix of ages too not an old man’s club at all. We didn’t try any food as we had our own buffet but I’ve heard good things so I hope to be back soon. Also dog friendly in case anyone’s wondering, our little cockerspaniel loved the attention and they even had treats behind the bar. Thank you for a lovely afternoon/evening ?
