First and only chippy that we’ve tried since moving to Colchester and our first experience was a pleasant one. Food was well cooked, hot and tasted great. Our second meal wasn’t as great. The fish in particular was rather oily and cold by the time we got it home, yet we live five minutes away. Chips were bland. I’d give ‘em a third go but it could be the last if not enjoyed as the meal isn’t as cheap as it used to be.Parking: Literally right outside on a bit of land in front of the place and it’s pot luck if you managed to get a spot. You can park on the street it sits on, but again that’s dependant on traffic.

No matter what anybody says, Frydays fish and chips are by far the best in Colchester. In all the years I have been going there, I have never been disappointed with my purchase whether it be fish, sausages, pies or whatever. Everything has been to a high and satisfying standard. Well done and thankyou for your super food.

Found this place to be fab when I first started going here but now my view has changed. Portion sizes have gradually gotten smaller. And at nearly £5 for a large portion I would expect the portion to be a decent size. Very
Unfortunately I have to give these a 2 star because the fish wasn’t as good as it used to be and the chips are a bit bland, we normally get these delivered and they can’t even be bothered to put salt and vinegar on them ?♂️ I mean why ruin your reputation by missing out something so quick an simple, it just shows laziness and carelessness, may have to go somewhere else if they can’t correct this

Fish was lovely and fresh, not greasy at all. Service was great, friendly and smiles. Chips were disappointing. Looked anaemic, some were undercooked and generally they were dry and not nice to eat. Great portion sizes though, kids meal was plentiful.

Just the job for a sit in lunch over that side of town on our way to Highwoods. Great idea of the staff member to offer us the lunch deal as the portion of fish was just the right size for my husband and I. Crispy batter, flaky moist cod, great chips. The staff member agreed that getting wooden cutlery is their next step and said she would try a different supplier. Once that is in place it will be Practically Perfect in every way ?

We pre ordered 72 portions of mainly fish and chips and a few veggie burgers and chips for a dual celebration of my wife’s 70th and our anniversary. The order arrived on time the food was hot and tasty and enjoyed by our friends and family. The food made the event unique and several people asked where the shop was so that they could visit for their own fish suppers in future.What more can I say other than thank you very much all to the staff at Fridays for making our event so special.
