I think this is an excellent place for dinner. First class food. They were very busy.

Never been before but.. we will be back!!!! Oh yes. The atmosphere was totally relaxing and welcoming and the service was A1. We were able to choose the portion size of the main course. The food was totally yummy. Beautifully cooked and presented. Lovely staff, and an open kitchen which was really good to see.Mary and Joe Connor :-D :-D

Food took over an hour to arrive was gravely disappointed with the results. Starters were overpriced and measly portions. Bad crayfish in main meal, sent plate back and was met with defensiveness from staff. Still got charged the full amount even though none of the meal was eaten. Will not be returning again. 0/10.

Service was slow and the food was ice cold when it came out. This place used to be decent, but it’s clearly gone down hill. Wouldn’t bother, you should just go elsewhere… unless you like freezing meatballs, of course!

An absolute find! We just wanted an early meal before a show at the Mercury and we hit lucky. Really delicious subtly flavoured dishes. Friendly service - family run. We were first in at about 5:45 but would be wise to book at dinner. Really enjoyed - will return!

Worse restaurant experience.Made to wait over 40 mins for our prebooked table. Would have walked out but was a Saturday night and doubted we'd get another booking. Manager didn't even apologise. No drinks offered when we sat down. Starter was incorrect. Food in general was tasteless. Only restaurant which didn't offer some reduction in the bill due to the appalling service. Two members of staff were apologetic and polite other than that, awful, disappointing experience.

On Saturday, 9th December my friend and I went to Ristorante Favoloso. What an awful experience. We had a table booked for 7pm but, even though we arrived on time, we were not shown to our table until 7:40pm because someone was still occupying it!! We were not provided with any complimentary drinks or snacks whilst we waited. We were just given the menus and then asked for our orders whilst waiting for our table to come free. It was only when we finally got to our table, we could see that there were specials up on the board. Because we had to chose what we wanted from the menu in the reception area, we didn’t get an opportunity to chose from the specials!! When our starters came out, we had to send one back as it wasn’t what we ordered. When the main courses came out, one of them wasn’t great so was left uneaten. The tables in the restaurant were packed so tightly together that the noise in there was ridiculous. By the time we’d finished our mains, we couldn’t hear what the other was saying and, even though we wanted dessert and another drink, we just asked for the bill so we could beat a hasty retreat. We asked for a reduction on the bill due to the inordinate delay in waiting for the table, plus the fact we didn’t get a chance to look at the specials, plus the fact one of the starters came out wrong. We were told, categorically, no!!! We begrudgingly paid the bill (we didn’t leave a tip) and left there and went somewhere else to get dessert and a cup of tea. I can honestly say, that was the worst dining experience we’ve ever had!!

Came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday and the food was excellent. We both had the breaded Brie to start which was very tasty and a very large portion, probably could have shared as there were two large wedges of Brie. For our main course we both had the fillet Stilton, the steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth with the Stilton sauce being delicious. Finished with a couple of Irish coffees as had eaten too much to tackle dessert! Despite the restaurant being busy as so close to Christmas, the service was very good and attentive. Whole meal was delicious and would recommend a visit.

Happened upon this little gem with a friend. We hadn't booked and were lucky to get in as it was packed on a Thursday evening. Superb asparagus and spinach ravioli, deleicately flavoured. Charming family run restaurant with great staff and wonderful chef who came out and chatted to us. My new favourite restaurant in Colchester!

We were made to wait 40 mins for our prebooked table without an apology from the manager. Only waited as was Saturday night and couldn't get another booking else where. Starter was wrong. We weren't offered a drink when we sat down. Food was tasteless. Only restaurant I've not been given something off of the bill for the inconvenience and bad service as a good will gesture. We not be returning.
