Popped in with friends after a 6 mile cross country walk across the marshes, all thirsty and starving and the food and service was great, very large portions of well cooked foodVegetarian options: Friend asked for the veggy option to be changed slightly and it was done exactly as she had asked with no drama, first time here for us but we will be back, staff where great.

My partner and I have been visiting brightlingsea for the past 5 years and always look forward to lunch in the Yachtsman's arms. But I have got to say after today we've decided to give it a miss. It was absolutely freezing cold. They put us in the far corner of the restaurant but after a short while of hugging myself I said to my partner I'm so cold, is it me. He said no, and asked for us to be moved nearer the fire. It helped slightly but the owner was constantly coming over to stoke the fire. So I feel the the table should be moved slightly. The menu has not changed for years. I had the burger, which contained lettuce and a tomato no sauce onion pickle so was quite bland really. The bill was surprising so high for what we had. Although, we got ourselves a brandy each to warm ourselves! So this obviously hiked the price. Such a shame, it used to be such a lovely place to go. Unfortunately, we will not be going back ?
