A proper old fashioned cafe. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, great food.

Went back today after a 20 year gap and it was still as excellent as it was then. The prices on the website have been affected by inflation, but even then the quality and quantity of the food were definitely worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful. I wont be leaving it for 20m years again!

It's reasonable in here nothing fancy very laid back bit dated on the furniture but foods pretty decent prices are average for what you

Always good value, last of the true transport cafes, not a country tea room, builders, bikers a cyclists.

Nice foodMiserable and not very polite or welcoming
Despite this long time cafe being off the beaten track I was surprised to see they are still serving the motoring/cycling public. Chatty and welcoming staff and a large menu offering full English to pie and mash but was flabbergasted to discover that there was no signs of any cake being available, luckily there was a defibrillator outside which was used to bring me out of my state of shock.Parking: Limited on site parking but street parking also available.

So we only came here because of an Essex Live article about how "good" it was and how cheap the breakfast was, absolute nonsense lol. In fairness, it wasn't awful, just bang average and no cheaper than any other greasy spoon cafe in the town centre. Maybe I just wasn't the target audience because I'm not a middle aged overweight man with "owning a motorbike" as a personality, or a retired Lycra clad cyclist looking for somewhere to take a break from holding up traffic in the middle of the road on a Sunday afternoon. The website needs updating because it's got set breakfasts listed about 5 quid, which is almost the entire reason we drove out of the way to get here, in reality they've bumped those up about 4 quid and 2 eggs on toat will run you a fiver, not 2.50 as stated on their website. Also don't expect much room, very small on the inside and many padded leather jackets and helmets taking up room...
