Very nice pub. It’s cash only at the moment. The atmosphere is so cosy and there are a lot of nice decorations. There are toilets available and also a snooker table. There are some very comfy seats. It’s a lovely place for a drink.

I was visiting Great Dunmow and I read Evan's review and said to myself "I would like to experience a real pub for a change as these boozers are a dying breed and hard to come by as most pretend wannabe pubs are pretentious". I didn't go for food and went for a nice beer, game of pool with the Mrs. Hell they have a dartboard. Love, the beer garden by the way. The staff were really friendly and felt as if I was home from home. Love the place and really do hope it survives as I said most are dying out and something ought to be done to save the traditional British Boozer. This is as it is, a pub, pub.

Always nice to have a pint in a real pub

A pub pub. No pretentiousness, no wankery, just a proper boozer.

When my wife was younger she lived in the area for quite some time and has some very fond memories of Great Dunmow. Several reviews refer to perhaps a less than convivial greeting! In some ways I quite liked this down-to-earth approach as I didn’t take it personally! They don’t serve food, they only accept cash and there’s definitely no Sky TV. They do have “slots” but as that has no appeal to me I can’t comment on that! There’s quite a nice looking pool table with plenty of space so your Cue action isn’t inhibited. I took some time to look at the pictures round the wall which seems to be steeped in history. When we ordered our drinks we went outside to the “garden” area not expecting very much at all but were gobsmacked by the amount of work and effort that went into creating something really special. It was amazing. They do have a small Car Park and as we wanted to get a couple of things from The High Street he let us use his Car Park which was very nice. If you’re looking for a sprauncy experience with bells and whistles this is not for you. However, if you want a trip back in time - and I mean this respectfully - it’s a shrine to that! It’s certainly different!
