Very impressed. I came for a steak dinner with my partner which was absolutely delicious. We both had the sirloin and it was the best one we’ve ever had. The service from the staff was fantastic and intimate. The restaurant as a whole had such a warming atmosphere and it was an overall positive, cozy experience. We will definitely be coming back and recommending to all our friends and family.

Lovely quaint looking pub, freezing cold on arrival at 12 noon, I suspect the heating had only just been turned on as radiators were barely warm, an elderly family member kept her coat on for the duration of our meal as it was so cold, my wife shivered through her entire meal. To be honest if it had not been my wife's special Birthday/Retirement meal I would of left and gone somewhere else. The food was nice and we were offered hot drinks to warm us up after our meals but those were only luke warm too. When the bill arrived we had also been overcharged by £17.00!! Not impressed. This was very disappointing and upsetting for my wife, I wanted it to be an occasion to remember, but it will now be remembered for all the wrong reasons and we will not be returning.

Lovely pub & food was very nice but it was very cold in there & elderly relative had to keep her coat on. Coffee offered free of charge due heating, was luke warm. Had to point out an overcharge of £17 on the bill . Afraid that we will not be returning.

Having just moved to the area, I decided to try this lovely pub with my family on the first Saturday after New Year. What a find! A lovely atmosphere; the staff were very welcoming and very smiley too! We had a selection of starters to share - the Beetroot Cured Salmon and some Spicey Chicken Wings. Myself and my son then had the Fish and Chips, my daughter the Burger and my wife the Risotto. The starters were great and the mains were excellent. Best fish and chips I've had in a long time and my son being very discerning when it comes to fish and chips - thought that they ranked in his Top 3! The burger got a vote of approval and my wife thought the Risotto was wonderful. The desserts kept the standard up and were fabulous too! We had the Dark Chocolate Torte, the Crème Brulée with Raspberry Sorbet, Tarte Tatin and Ice Cream. The food could not be faulted, the service was attentive and we had a lovely evening. I would recommend The Spotted Dog without hesitation, and I look forward to returning very soon!

We ate here on New Year’s Day with our family. What a wonderful meal . The pub itself was decorated beautifully and we were served by a fantastic young guy who was so helpful, friendly and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We will be back .

Most Amazing Christmas dinner ever!!! I never usually write reviews but I felt like I had to for this one. Food was delicious, Service was excellent and intimate. I came with the family on Christmas Day and enjoyed everything that was on offer and especially the desserts with a rose port! Can’t wait too go back and try the Al a Carte menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Wow! Just Wow! Christmas Day 2023. Probably the best Christmas lunch ever. So beautifully served, superb service and a total array of tasty variety. Not just a Turkey roast dinner. Real warmth and effort went into this. I am a regular at this pub and drive for an hour to get there. It is always well worth it. Thank you Carla and Neil for your warmth, hospitality and hard work. We loved it.

Just returned from having sunday lunch here and was bit disappointed after being recommended. The main meals were lovely as I had roast beef sirloin and my girlfriend had roast chicken. We both ordered sticky toffee pudding which looked like a small tub of microwave pudding with one scoop of ice cream and paid £8 for each pudding so £16 for a few mouth fulls, what a joke!! Didnt want to complain in front of everyone but should have said something at the time. Its a bit like when you have a bad haircut and walk out saying its lovely!!! Sorry spotted dog but felt mugged off so wont be back!!!

Food was fine but place was freezing. An assurance that the heating was on made no impression on the ice cold radiators. A request for a heater was met again with ‘the heating is on!’ Wearing a coat with another coat over my knees to keep warm did not make for a pleasurable lunch. Saving costs on heating has been taken too far by this establishment

What a fabulous find! Lovely venue, tables spaced well apart. Service friendly, attentive and professional. Food superb! I had the pork belly which was full of flavour. And the brûlée was a perfect end. Will be back.

Having visited The Spotted Dog for a friends birthday lunch in the group dining room some time ago we were really keen to come back to find if the main restaurant was as good as it looked. If you want a welcome like you’d expect from close family the team at The Spotted Dog will deliver, this place makes you feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment you step through the door, it’s genuine and the management and staff just could not do more to let you know they appreciate your custom (a fact grossly missing in restaurants that are significantly more expensive!!!) Despite a large party being accommodated in the group dining room, we were able to have pre-diner drinks in the garden and were advised the drinks we ordered would be taken to the garden for us!!! There is simply so many dishes on the menu we would have loved to try, but this was a ‘Simple” catch up lunch with family so had to be reserved! The food was excellent, service (despite a very large group in the big dining room) was brilliant and all at a price which will not make your eyes water!! In conclusion, I can’t wait to go back and try the main menu, seriously looking forward to going back, if you are looking for a quality place to eat, run and managed by genuine, sincere and welcoming people you’ll have to go a long, long way (and probably pay significantly more) than The Spotted Dog. try it - you will NOT be disappointed!!!
